Any interviewees call Wake Forest to see if they were accepted?

The committee met on the Oct 15th and they said they would mail the letters and you should get a response within a few days. Anybody call to see if letters were mailed out (secretly hoping they would tell you what your status is-accepted, waitlisted or rejected)?

Personally I am dying on the wait! I have never felt so impatient in my life...I think this is worse than waiting for the MCAT Score Release.

I've been debating calling or not.. I finally got the courage yesterday -- after their office was closed.

Now I've decided to wait till Monday. If I don't hear anything by then perhaps I will call.

But I really only want to know if I've gotten in over the phone.. I'd like for them to lie to me if I haven't if I were to call them.

Yeah, I'd really hate to be rejected over the phone. Plus, I don't want to bother them. But I'd like to know so I can determine whether to book flights for other interviews!!!! Since I'm only 45 minutes away, maybe they mailed them yesterday and I'll find out today?!?!?! (pipe dream methinks)🙁

It was my pipe dream today too....I rushed home after classes to check my mailbox....and no mail. I waited a half hour and checked again....no mail. I pleasantly went to my neighbors house with a crazy look in my eye asking....."Do you know if the mail came today? "Yeah about an hour ago" Ugh! I live in Winston-Salem so I was hopin', prayin' and wishin'.

Wake's adcom apparently met on the night of the 15th to discuss final decisions. The super-nice lady in the admissions office said that letters would be going out sometime next week. She also said that she would've told me the decision over the phone, but couldn't since the system hadn't been updated yet.

😛 Yeah, me too. She said sometime in the middle of next week for both the system update and the letters going out. Hopefully it'll be good news for all.

Definitely keep us posted on what happens--there are a number of Wake students who keep up on SDN. I, for example, have an exam I should be studying for, and instead am posting here. 🙂

Thanks mgw519! When everyone was getting accepted last application cycle I was just so excited for you guys. It was an inspiration for me, especially when studying for the MCAT. I hope one of ya'll will be mentoring during physical examinations. That would be pretty cool!😀

I called and they said the system hasn't been updated yet. The lady sounded as if this was like 200th call she received. So maybe we should stop calling her. (At least she didn't take my name).

I interviewed at Wake on 9/26. The campus is beautiful, the people are welcoming, and Winston's definitely on the forefront of expansion (espeically downtown!).

Hopefully we'll all get to know final decisions real soon. I'm pretty excited. Good luck, you guys seem set!

Hi, everyone. Sorry to barge into the discussion w/ a non-acceptance notification question, but I thought some fellow WF applicants might shed some light on an issue. I'm an August Mcater who has applied to Wake. I heard a rumor that Wake doesn't accept prereqs taken at community college, therefore, will reject AMCAS apps during the screening process for such reason. Do you guys know if this is true? Thanks.

Don't quote me on this, but I have never heard anything like that. At any rate, the admissions office is very nice, so it won't hurt to just call and ask.

As for everyone else...good luck in this whole process. Its worth it. Wake Forest is a great place. We love it here!

Just FYI, I called the Admissions Office yesterday and the staff person told me that it was their policy to accept science prereqs from 4 year universities only. Only CC credit if you transferred it to a 4 year university. I then asked if my AMCAS would get screen out b/c I took some science courses at CC and she said most likely, but I'd have to talk to an admissions officer about it.

This sounds weird. I took organic chem at a community college after I finished my undergrad degree and I ended up with an interview at Wake Forest.

Now I wait with baited breath for that letter this week. Waiting is so hard.

I checked my mail today...heart pounding....hoping....open the mailbox and I saw.....a stack of letters in there. I was scanning them closely. Then I poked and prodded them thinking I might see something. Then the lady walking her dog stared curiously at me wondering if I was another member of the alien mission from Third Rock From the Sun. What could I do but smile?

"Spiders...sometimes spiders are in there", smiling. Pitifully I saw no letter.🙁

I get my mail one day after it is sent out...I spoke to someone in the office and they said sometime this week. Personally, I think they are going out at the latest on Thursday. I'll post and then you guys can time your letter arrivals from mine. Obessesive-Compulsive, most definitely.....but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's just too d*mn exciting for anything else!😀

OK...I spoke to someone involved in the admissions process and they said that they can't tell you over the phone. You will have to wait for the letter. 🙁

Man, that's a scary thought. I have an exam that I need to be studying for, but I can't get my mind off this. I was confident after my interview, but I am getting more and more worried as time passes.

I live ~1 hour from WFU and I got the acceptance letter yesterday; I'm assuming most of the people (except West Coast) will get them today. Good luck on your test!!😀

The letter was sent first class. I thought it was weird that it took two days..that's why I assumed it wasn't mailed out yet on Wednesday. At Wake the earlier the interview the better. When I called to see if my application was complete (this was in September) she said it was and that I was in the top applicant pool. In July I talked to Irene about my application and she people with great numbers, etc. would be interviewed the first cycle and then they would interview again. WE ALL MADE THE FIRST INTERVIEW CYCLE! That's great....don't worry about rejection...at worst it will be a waitlist. Almost all the med students I have talked were waitlisted first. Maybe you could PM cocoabutter or Gohan to see what they think.

Hang tight...letters are coming.

(Of course you could call and say something to the effect that you have been receiving mail that should have arrived about a month ago and you were afraid that there might be problems with the mail. You could admit your worry the importance of the mail system losing your mail) 😳
