Good luck, today!!! You will do well.😀👍:luck:😎

Sorry this is so damn late, but good luck!!
When they ask you why you want to be a doctor say something about how you want to be intellectually and professionally stimulated and challenged. They like that!!!!!!

I have to finish eating first or I will faint from low blood sugar!! I really hope I don't bust out laughing tomorrow if someone mentions an appliance. 😀 Oh and I passed the school and it's freakin' huge!!

Not to worry, I know you will do well. You are an old pro now!

How did it go?

I am hoping that it totally rocked and they gave you your acceptance right there!!! 😀😀😀

So t minus 10 hours until liftoff. Less than 24 hours until I'm interviewing at AZCOM. Any last thoughts or suggestions for me? Anyone want to predict what questions I will be asked and suggest some answers for me? 😉 I'll have my GPS so hopefully I won't get lost. I still have to make some arrangements today to visit daycares tomorrow after the interview and then hope and pray I get back to the airport on time. This is how my stomach is feeling :scared: (sorry there were no butterfly smilies). 😎

Well since I haven't done it yet I cannot help but I will say BEST OF LUCK, let your personality shine and rock it! 👍

Welcome to Dallas baby!! 😀 Thanks everyone for the encouragement and saying such nice things about me. 😳 I enjoyed the interview and I think it went fairly well but I feel like it's hard to judge whether or not they actually liked me or not. I just got settled at home so I will post tomorrow about everything. My husband does have good tasted because I thought AZCOM was awesome and Phoenix is absolutely beautiful!! Well minus the areas you accidentally end up in while trying to find a gas station before returning the rental car. 😱 Anyway thanks again and I will talk to you guys again tomorrow. 🙂

YEY!!! I'm so glad it went well! I'm sure they loved you, how could they not? 😉 I'm so excited for you! When did they say they would let you know? Did they bring up the fact that your hubby would be attending next year and that you were moving to Phoenix? Sorry, so many questions! Talk to you tomorrow! 😀

Dude I TOTALLY know the neighborhood AND (probably) gas station you are talking about! I ended up in the same place I think! The special exit you have to take to get to the rental car place was kind of confusing.

Sadly, it actually reminded me of the neighborhood I grew up in.

I totally hate getting lost in scary places in foreign cities. It's kind of freaky.:scared:

Well, I hope everything went well. It sounds like you really liked the place and I'm glad everything seems to be working out for you and your family. Did they ask you the appliance question or any other weird ones?

When I interviewed at Drexel in Philly, I was trying to find the place where I was supposed to meet up with my student host, but I kept missing my exit, and I kept crossing the bridge into Jersey. I did this like 5 times. The lady at the toll booth stopped charging me after my 2nd or 3rd time though, so that was nice.

I finally just got a hotel and met up with my student host later that night for a bite to eat.

But back to the topic at hand... I'd like to hear some more details.

Sorry guys. I was going to post earlier but I was so exhausted I could barely think. I just woke up from a 3.5 hour nap so I'm refreshed although I still have a headache.

So as TT knows at least I got into my hotel late and had to eat my healthy dinner of McDonald's before I could go to bed. I got about five hours of sleep before I had to wake up and get ready. I can handle that. I have kids some nights it's a dream (no pun intended) just to get five hours. So I show up just about right on time and almost everyone else is there. We sat around for a while and had some breakfast and talked to a couple med students. We had the financial aid presentation which is about what I expected. Thank goodness for a 0 EFC!! 😀

I didn't really start to get nervous until we got the sheet with our times and with whom we would be interviewing. For those of you who haven't interviewed there you are separated into two groups. Group 1 has interviews at 9, 9:35 (me), and 10:10 while Group 2 goes on the tour. Group 2 has interviews at 10:45, 11:20 and 11:55 while we went on the tour with two med students. By the way, we saw the super long golf cart but there were nine of us so we had to take the bus instead. Then for lunch both groups met up and afterwards we had the basic sciences and rotations presentations.

While I was waiting for my interview I kept getting random waves of nervousness. I'm sure my fellow interviewees though I was weird for actually vocalizing my nervousness but I guess I am weird. 😳 In order to calm myself down I would think of TT's "appliance" and I would start to smile down and feel a little less nervous. So thanks for that TT!! 😀 Once I was called in and sat down I wasn't nervous at all. I was asked the regular questions like why medicine and why DO. They were going to ask me why AZCOM but I already mentioned that my husband was accepted there and would be starting in the fall. Of course I added other reasons why I like the school and the area because I didn't want them to think I wanted to go there just because I had to. Oh and I interviewed with a DO (female), a PhD (female) and an MSII (male). The PhD asked the student if he had any questions for me and he said "just my fun ones". I was wondering if that sounded good or not so good. 😱

So it started like this "if you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?". I tried to think of a vegetable but I kept thinking of things that weren't vegetables and then they broadened it to include fruits. I said I would be an orange because (roughly, I can't remember exactly how I said it) the outside may not look/be perfect but the inside is still good. I was just glad I could think of something because that is not a question I had considered before hand. He also asked me "if you have a 14 year-old patient who just found out she is pregnant what would you tell her?". After my answer he asked me "how would you handle the situation if she was really upset and started crying?". I think there was one more question about the 14year old girl but I can't remember. The hardest question I got was in reference to the new Six Flags that will be built in the Phoenix area. He asked, rough summarization again, "if 100 people were injured in an explosion at Six Flags (and I would be handling the situation) what would I do/how would I handle the situation?" oh and also if I had to tell one of those people they had a 90% or so chance of dying how would I handle that.

I think I handled myself really well although sometimes I babbled and other times I bumbled through what I was trying to say. I had a few times I was wondering if I should have taken back what I said but obviously I couldn't. At this point I would honestly be shocked if I was outright rejected. I'm sooooo hoping that doesn't happen because I really really liked the school. It would have been nice being there when it wasn't spring break but it wasn't a big deal. Between acceptance and waitlist I'm really not sure at this point. I think it's hard to judge what interviewers think of you. Sooooo, sorry that was so long but that was a good summary. If I left something out or anyone has an specific questions, feel free and thanks all for the support and encouragement!! 😀

it sounds like it went well EEL08!!! Except for that meanie med student with the weird questions. He probably just got a lot of those when he was interviewing and wanted some payback. :meanie:

I'm sending lots of good thoughts and :luck::luck::luck::luck: your way! Do they give you the standard "you'll hear from us in 2 weeks" deal? By phone, email or snail mail? I'm sure you were great . . . in face I know you were great! 😉

Thanks!! I was completely fine with the med student's questions. If I were a med student interviewing I think I would want to ask more interesting questions like that too. They did say we should be hearing within 2 weeks. My husband found out ten days later. They also said we could call but I may be more inclined to wait for the snail mail letter. I guess I'll have to see how brave I am in the next week or two.

Oh and a tip for everyone, make sure to get gas a few miles before you get to the airport. I missed the original exit for the rental car return so I had to exit at the airport and come back around. Then I kept driving south trying to find a gas station when I ended up in a not good area. I'm talking bars on the windows and graffiti. I finally found a gas station using my GPS. I felt weird because I was all pimped out in my black suit and pink shirt looking hot 🙄 and everyone else was, well not pimped out although maybe some were pimps. :meanie: I'm sure they were lovely people but I looked so out of place and people were giving me weird looks when I had to go in to get my receipt because for some reason the machine couldn't do its job and print it out for me at the pump.

Oh and the rental car place is not at the airport per se. You have to take a shuttle to and from and it takes at least 8 minutes. So I got checked in for my flight 6 minutes before I had to be checked in. The security line was super long but I was able to board 16 minutes before we were to take off. And then I sat next to a woman who smelled like smoke when I first got on the plane. So overall it was a lovely trip. 😉 Oh and I also checked out some daycares which was fun and drove through Surprise where we hope to live and it was gorgeous with the mountains in the background and palm trees lining the main streets. I was trying to figure out a way to not have to come back to Texas but I think actually finishing my MPH degree is pretty important. Also a note for the ladies, try to avoid wearing Spanx for 16 hours. Nothing good can come from it. Guys, just don't ask. :meanie:

Hey, I got those for my interviews. I stopped wearing them after a couple of times bc I hated them so much. Anyway, I'm glad everything went well. 🙂

Oh Eel, I'll definately be pulling for you. Girl, I'm glad you made it home safely! It sounds like that was an adventure all on its own between gas and getting on your plane...

Maybe on Monday, send a thank you letter or card for the interview- just to keep yourself fresh on their minds... although I don't think that's a huge problem in your case. Oh! and btw, great answer about the orange. sweet! It sounds like you did really well... I think it's normal to fumble over words and was probably expected, especially with such off the wall questions.

Keep your head up and trust that if it is time for you to start in August, you will. 🙂 As you know, I had to wait an extra year, and God truly knows everything because it really was the best for me. And I really do pray the best for you and your family...

EE, I just had a vision that you were accepted. I have seen the future and it will happen. I predict you will be called March 12 or 13 with an acceptance

I have seen it and it will be done

The Laura has spoken.....that is all

LET IT BE!!
good luck eel i am gotcha-totally-peddlin-fo-ya believing that this will happen!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! This is the first time I wore them. I think there was a little bit more of me to love at my AZCOM interview than at DCOM. 😳

Thank you! Definitely if I don't get in this year I know there is a reason for it. I do plan on sending thank you cards. I need to get on it soon. Maybe after my midterm tomorrow.

Laura I think I really like your visions. 😉 You know March 11 would be a great day to find out because that is my son's 3rd birthday. 😀

Thanks!! 😀 I will let you guys know what happens and keep us up-to-date on your progress too.

You do realize there is nothing wrong with guys wearing Spanx also. We do have love handles that must be controlled otherwise they just flop over the belt(or so I have heard I have never experienced this myself mind you, just word of mouth) uh hem.

Havent you heard of the dunlap disease? 😀

😆 This is one of the funniest things I have ever heard!! You're right Spanx shouldn't just be reserved for women. 😉

ok, I'll work on March 11th, but you can't be picky, EE! geez, give a little......

ocho I love you!

Honesty is the best policy, I always say...You know every guy was thinking it I was just the only one brave (stupid) enough to say it. hehehe

I 😍 you too for that! What a real man! 😉

Do you realize how hard it is to walk around all day sucking in your gut like a six pack?

Me either thats why I wear that spanx. hehehe

HA HA. 😀

Actually I bought both the Spanx undergarment and pantyhose. The pantyhose got a run early in the morning on my first interview. I was so peeved bc I spent $15 or $20 on them. I went back and got a $5 pair and they didn't rip over the next 5 interviews. I would not recommend these if you are looking for pantyhose. 😳

Sorry for the late response but it sounds like you had quite the adventure. Nonetheless, it sounds like it really went well and I'm totally rooting for you!!!! Keep us posted. :luck:

I wish you the best of luck EEL08 in your endeavor. I really hope you get into AZCOM with your husband.
