Any lefties out there?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I work for an orthodontist that is lefty. He has never mentioned any difficulties but we do have the tables and sinks on the left side of the chair.

I love being left-handed. Since most assistants are right-handed, it means we can each work with our dominant hand in the operative field.

have you had any difficulty/awkwardness working on patients? or can you just switch your chair to the other side? how do you work around it?
I've never had a hard time being left handed. I've worked with both left and right handed assistants without any problem. Most modern chairs (front delivery) can switch off the arms to either side.

The only problem I can think of is working in offices where they've had to set up a lightbox for me on my side of the chair because the wall mounted one was set behind the right handed dentist's position.

I'm usually at the patient's 1-2 o'clock position.

Hey, I'm a first year dental student. I asked about the lefty-chair issue and I was told that they will change the chair settings such that we can work on the other side of the chair.

I'm left handed and haven't had any issues with it. We just work in the 11 to 4 o'clock range.
