Just wondering if there are any LSUSD applicants/students out there. I'm not applying this year just in school getting my stats up! But I have some questions:

I spoke with someone in admissions and she said that LSU doesn't consider math courses apart of you sGPA. I know that since the big scandal with the students who cheated their way in, they have now decided to use AADSAS, but AADSAS includes math courses into the science GPA. So do they only really look at your BCP in that case?

I know LSUSD does the chalk carving portion during the interview, has anyone gone through that? Are you graded on your final product or also on your techique?

I know LSUSD mostly accepts LA residents, but from what colleges. I know that they accept students fron Xavier, UNO and All the other LSU system schools, but how about LaTech or some of the other smaller schools.

Tulane too. I'm sure if you are a LA resident it doesn't really matter which school in LA you attend. Your residency seems to be the most important factor besides grades, DAT, etc.

I would call them back and ask them specifically about the BCP GPA thing and I can't really help you with the chalk carving. I was planning on applying but decided not to becuase it is so hard to get in as an OOS.

I'm applying right now and I know a couple people who applied last year and just started their first year. They both told me the chalk charving really did not matter much. It's the first thing you do on your interview day to get it out of the way. One friend told me his was pretty bad because he never practiced it, but he still got in. He told me they just use it as a reason to not accept you if they really didn't like you in your interview. Thats just what I've been told, hopefully I'll get an interview soon and find out for myself.

I'm pretty sure they take from all LA schools. Tech, ULM, ULL, Northwestern, LSU -S,A,E, Grambling, Southern, Centenary, Southeastern, Tulane, UNO, Xavier, ...

I was told by admissions that they grade the chalk on a scale of 1-10 and you need a 7 or above for acceptance.

i applied to LSU and interviewed last year but did NOT get accepted due to my dismal chalk. i undermined the importance of it and vacationed 2 weeks before my interview and only practiced when i got back for 1 day. on a scale from 1-10 my chalk was very low. don't be me. i also have to offset an under average PAT score, and if you do too, aim for a 6.5-8. You can get a ranking from your pre-dental society or maybe even the LSU dean if you schedule an appointment with him.

They accept all schools in Louisiana.. I would assume LSU people probably have a slightly better edge just because of it being the state university and the Dean of Admission comes up sometimes and we have the 101 brushing up with dentistry at the LSU dental school.. But idk.

And ya I'm at LSU right now and The Dean of Admission said a good or bad score on the chalk carving section won't make or break you

Who did you talk to? I'm pretty sure a bad chalk will break you. An average chalk will not, so long as everything else is good. Thats usually what the dean tells people "it doesn't have to be great but show us that you tried."

I think everyone should do fine on the chalk considering you've put SOME kind of preparation into it.

There's even a page on LSU's website where one of the professors demonstrates step by step how to carve it. This can be practiced way in advanced and perfected by the time you interview. & you can blow them away 😀

What was the scandal if anyone cares to tell? I tried google but nothing came up. I'm super curious now 😀

those guys faked transcripts, DAT scores. They did other things too the bring attention to themselves but in the grand scheme of things defrauding the school would likely result in a smaller penalty and lesser jail time. But they took out federally subsidized loans and you NEVER cheat Uncle Sam. Even over 1 penny the IRS will pay you a visit.

anyhow LSU isn't the only school with was hit with this type of scandal. Nova has one too that involves grade changing. That girl though graduated is licensed to practice in california.

Not sure what has happened of her case and others besides the people who did the changing. few years old and the local news(for me) doesn't care any more.

I remember that story! That was crazzzzy 😱

how did they fake their dat score? doesn't the ADA or whoever have to send a copy directly to the school?
