ok...there is a midnight shift rite aid in homewood which might be the worst job in the industry..
Ugh working all night and sleeping all day would f*ck me up. Do you really think you could do it for 8 months?
You'd probably need melatonin nightly and possibly zolpidem, and have a nice ritalin 5mg with your cup of coffee every morning (and by morning I mean 9pm).

i did it for 3 years and it was great. 7 on/7 off was nice. it messes up your sleep schedule, but it's worth it for the short term. i would just stay up the whole day on my last day and sleep that night and then i'd be on a day schedule for my off week. no MD calls, occasional pt calls, and only deal with ER customers in the middle of the night. plus, you can work OT on your off week for the mini-vacation your next off week.
how do you do it the night before you start the 7 days on? if you start on monday night, did you stay up sun night and go to sleep on monday morning?
and after the shift is done, when did you sleep? like 9am to 5pm?
i'd try to stay up sunday night and sleep monday morning. i'd play xbox till the sun came up. then when i finished my shift at 8am, i'd need an hour or two to unwind and crash around 10-11am and wake up around 4 or 5. sometimes i took a power nap at 8pm to get ready for my 10pm shift. invest in some curtains that black out the room too. i'd take an ambien maybe twice a week if i couldn't fall asleep by noon.
That was one of the few things in pharmacy that I always enjoyed.... 🙂

Well there were a few RNs in the area who knew our staff and they were always fun to talk to. And there were a couple secretaries who were grade A know-nothing as*holes. Most were somewhere in between.
But you're right, most of the time when you're calling because the doctor wrote "Ambien 3mg" and you just want the right goddamn dose you can almost hear the eyes rolling.

The first 2-3 days usually **** you up really bad at around 4-8 am... On my last days I usually just stay up 24 hours and sleep around 9 pm, wake up in the morning to prepare 5 days in a row daytime overtime. I plan to do this for at least 5 years and pay off mortgage to rent it out and buy a second house 🙂
During your 7 days on, you have no life lol... and if you take OT too, say goodbye to your social life. But the money is good, you can rake in around $170k-180k/year.
