Can anyone help shed light on schools that waive all test score requirements for applicants with a doctoral degree? I will graduate with a DVM from a US school in the spring, so never took the MCAT. I did take the GRE, but it has been 5 years and my scores are now expired. I want to apply to MPH programs but I really don't have time to deal with taking the GRE again (National board exam is next month...). My old GRE score was fine I wish I could just send it but ETS must think that I've gotten dumber during vet schol or something?!

So far I know that UW will waive test scores. I see that other schools like Hopkins will waive the GRE requirement, but you still need to submit an MCAT/LSAT etc. I'll keep looking through all the websites but if anyone can think of schools that might work for me, it would be great and I'd really appreciate it! Even a school that might be flexible enough to allow me to send a copy of my score report instead of having to pay to take the test again and having ETS send the score?! It is so ridiculous.

Yes, UC Berkeley will. DVM is vet medicine, right? If so, look at the admissions site. It specifically accepts that kind of doctoral-level degree.

...and it's a good school, too 🙂

The University of New England has no GRE requirement and they are CEPH accredited, so it's a quality program. I am in the process of submitting my application for Spring.

Which vet school do you go to? What focus are you interested in for your MPH?

I will be applying to vet school for 2014.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful.

1day - I go to Washington State. I'm most interested in zoonotic & infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases and livestock production/food safety. Ideally, I'd like to go abroad for my practicum but staying domestic would be okay too!

I would focus on schools that have vet schools or strong animal science/ agriculture departments. Kansas state, ufl, Colorado state, all come to mind. Unless you are looking for a degree with more prestige and ranking ( and cost) in which case I think you might like Tulane's tropical medicine ( although you will be the odd man out since half of these people seem to have never heard of the concept of a zoonotic disease).

Other than not wanting to take the gre, what are you looking for in a program? Ranking, location, cost, etc... That will help us narrow our suggestions

U of Berkeley said no to me. I have a MD degree from foreign medical college. Maybe its different for US grads

Thanks for the help guys. I actually figured out that even though I took the GRE slightly >5 years ago, ETS is still sending those scores for a few more months, so I have more versatility than I thought.

My vet school is only pass/fail on our transcripts but we do have class rank, although it's not included on official transcripts. My vet school performance is better than my undergrad, but now I have to figure out how to incorporate my class rank into my SOPHAS application somehow. My school's administration will email out class rank, but I'm not sure that SOPHAS has a way to add this to my app?

OneDay - your MPH project sounds really cool (read about it on the vet forum) and right up my alley. Basically, I cannot afford to spend more $$ on school, so cost/scholarships are going to be biggest factor in where I end up. I'm applying to diverse programs including some of the bigger names but also to programs that have more veterinary integration.
