Any news from fellow GW pre-interview hold-ees?

ANyone who got put on a pre-interview hold at GW (or anywhere else for that matter) hear back one way or another?

I feel like at this point it is almost a lost cause.

Did you send them your transcript? I went ahead and did that but still have heard nothing. They said that they'd re-review my application in Feb. but I have no idea how long that takes or when in Feb they are starting. I wish they had told us how many people they put on pre-interview hold and why.

I got a pre-int hold letter back in November. Haven't heard a thing since.

I was put on the "wait until after February" hold in November as well and just got word that I got an interview for the beginning of March. So they are definatly still interviewing.

Hey that's awesome. Did you send anything to them or call them before they informed you of the interview? How did they inform you of the interview?

Hi all,

Interesting y'all should ask about what I did because this week I am writing letters of interest anyway to the schools I am still waiting on. I also had sent ahead my updated transcript that included fall grades--but there is no way it could have gotten there before they sent out my interview letter. I just got the letter in the mail yesterday and my interview is for march. Hope this helps!

I never even got a pre-interview hold from them, just silence.

Got my rejection letter yesterday, that makes a grand total of 25 rejections and 1 acceptance! (the joy of being a californian).

I've read many Californians allude to how difficult it is to get into med school as a Californian. Sorry about my naivete but this is a serious question: Why is it more difficult for Californians to get into med school than people from other states?

I'll give you the short reply:
1) for some freakish reason EVERYONE in CA wants to be a doctor
2) we have a relatively small number of medical schools for our population + the classes are pretty small (100-150)
3) UCSF, UCLA, UCSD and even to a certain extent UCI (I hesitate to judge UCD) are considered some of the best medicial schools in the country (public or private)
Hope that helps explain why we (californians) are eveywhere!

Same deal here. Got put on "hold until february" list right after my aug mcat scores. I mailed them my updated transcript and emailed an update on my app. They are nice at responding to emails, so I got a reply saying that they've noted my interest in school in their file. Hope I get an interview soon.

I feel ya, kid. I am up to 15 rejections, still counting. One waitlist, have a feeling there's another 2 coming - one golden acceptance. You really do build up a thick skin through all this.

I'm going to call today to check up on my status..... so far I havn't heard anything, but they told me that this month they would be re-reviewing everyone.

I totally agree ocean11, frankly I think it is rude how long some of the schools keep us waiting. At this point I'm over caring if I got rejected I just want to know!
