I was an NHSC scholar. It was great while I was in med school (tuition plus stipend!) and I cherish the memories of my service. I was debt free in four years.

Hi! We recently published a blog post on the NHSC, which may be worth your time to review. It links to an excellent SDN article describing the NHSC and its pros and cons, as well as a WSJ article describing some difficult experiences that participants faced during the pandemic. An excellent program - but worth the time to really research the fit, as it's a big commitment!
