Taj said:I was wondering if anyone has gotten into med school with a 24 on the MCAT? I took it three times and that was my highest (not most recent). I dont mind studying hard and taking it again in April, but I dont want to loose another year. I wanted to see if any school acutally accepts 24s. I would really appreciate it 🙂

Yet, I don't here anyone suggesting that these doctors who are probably now training or will train some of you, "step down" from their positions as MD physicians. 🙄

pillowhead said:Well that was 20 years ago. I think the average MCAT scores for allopathic schools are now quite a bit higher for whatever reason. Of course no one is suggesting that current MDs with MCAT scores <25 from 20 years ago should "step down." People are just trying to provide practical advice. For someone with a 24 MCAT, saying, "just go for US allopathic schools" isn't very practical advice.
Not sure what point you're making here. My point is that there's no difference from what I can see, between a physician with a 24 MCAT and one with a 34 MCAT no matter WHEN they finished med school.pillowhead said:Well that was 20 years ago.
Again, my point is simply that 24MCAT does NOT = DO UNLESS DO is your primary goal. Should a person with a 24 MCAT apply MD only? I think it depends on any number of circumstances that go far beyond the MCAT score. It certainily means without question that this person should apply to a wide range of MD schools, again assuming MD only is their goal.pillowhead said:For someone with a 24 MCAT, saying, "just go for US allopathic schools" isn't very practical advice.
Gee wiz, I guess I should state the obvious in my posts. 🙄frank51 said:I agree, but people should also note that unless this person has a good GPA to go along with his MCAT, he'll have a hard time getting accepted anywhere in the states (M.D or D.O).
