Does any accredited college, especially in California, offer online speech courses over the summer? I'll be out of the states for an unpredictable period of time due to family emergency. This worries me a lot because I still lack this pre-req before pharmacy school starts in the fall.:scared:

i dont think there is such thing for a speech class cuz u have to be able to stand in front of peple and give a speech so u can't take a online course. even if you do manage to find a class i m not sure how the pharmacy schoool will look at that because it will only show u are not able to deal with peple.
dont mean to discourage u or nothin but u can still take the speech class while ur applying so

My school has an online speech class, but you still have to come on campus to give your speeches. And it is in Missouri.

ELAC (East Los Angeles College) also offers an online speech course. But like the above poster mentioned, you still have to come to campus to give your speeches. That's the only time you have to come to campus. You do the hw, work on the speeches, etc, independently.

they offer it...I took mine online but I was in florida...you just have to video tape yourself and you must get an audience to watch it...the minimum for each of my speeches was 6 people.

That is kind of a joke because you could get your mom, dad and siblings and have 6 people watching....ohhhh so scary

I'd check, a lot of schools don't accept online speech courses

There is TONS of them everywhere. Search petersons.com. You can search for distance courses there.

As far as I know, none of the community colleges in the Bay Area offer online speech in the summer. City College of San Francisco offers speech 1A (public speaking, which is accepted by most pharm schools), but it's only offered during a regular semester, and you have to go to campus to give your speeches.

Make sure that you're signing up for a public speaking or debate course that's accepted by the school you're going to (and call them ASAP to explain your situation and see if you can get around it). Most pharmacy schools won't accept "interpersonal communication" classes as fulfilling the public speaking requirement.

I took a lot of classes online just because I like the format better...but I dont think that is a bad thing...and it teaches you really to manage your time and be organized...
