Hey guys
i wanted to see if all the other DO schools have an SSPhi. chapter that their school. At NSUCOM-weve had one for a while now.Im not sure if you could call it an AOA equivilant or not. At our school you have to be elected to be apart of the org. You have to participate in community service projects that the society puts on.Also, you have to be in the top 20% of the class.Right now, we have around 20 people in our society now.

for those that do, how many people are in your group?what projects do you do?

just curious

Chris:

UNECOM also has a chapter of SSP with similar requirements to join. That means that there would be about 20-25 students per class. Most of the activities are community oriented. For example, they may sponsor a 5K run with the proceeds going to a certain charity. During the event, they had some folks doing OMM. In all, I think SSP did about a dozen activities.

UNECOM's SSP doesn't have an academic requirement beyond just passing all of your classes. There is no ranking you must meet, you just can't fail a class. If you do fail a class, they don't know unless you tell them.

Sadly...SSP doesn't carry nearly the weight of AOA.....We have it as COMP too...

Thanks Doc OC!!

I skimmed through the original post too quickly. SSP at UNECOM only accepts a certain max percentage of the first year class, and then a slightly higher percentage of the second year class, which roughly works out to the numbers I mentioned, not based on the academics (althought can't fail a class like Doc Oc said).

NYCOM dosen't have this organization. We have a chapter of Psi Sigma Alpha, which is supposedly the national osteopathic honor society.

The requirements to join are purely academic. All students who are in the top 15% of the class after the second year are invited to join. Community service is not considered.

PCSOM just started a ssphi chapter last year and it does have an academic requirement to join.
