hey guys,

are there any out-of-staters that have gotten word from UVa yet? i'm just curious, my file has been complete for a while there.
thanks

I have an interview January 20th. I am really excited, my wife's bothers live in VA and PA. We're going on a mini roadtrip. Were going to visit her brothers and I have another interview (USUHS) to complete on the 22nd.

Interview on Feb 23. Received the snail mail last week after being on "hold" for a few weeks. I did send them a letter of intent a couple of weeks ago.

I would call to see whether your app is on hold. That is how I found out after being complete for months.

hmmm, last week you say? i'm home for a bit and have no access to mail, so of course that makes me soooo anxious. the letter of intent probably does help a lot! i called them two weeks ago and they just told me i was being "reviewed" - which gives me no info at all. i'm hesitant to call again because i don't want to seem like a pest. but thanks for the info, im gonna send them an update.

I know out-of-staters who had post-secondary turnaround time from anywhere between 3 days and 2 months. It seems that UVA has a continuous screening process, so if you haven't heard right after being complete, don't take it as a negative sign. In my experience, the in-state turnaround time doesn't differ much from the out-of-state time.

Best of luck,

tf

Plenty of out of state people have received interviews and acceptances from UVA so far (including me).

Best of luck.

I emailed their office and got a replay back saying that it was getting "tight" for out of state applicants who haven't recieved an interview yet. I think those of us who haven't gotten an interview yet are pretty much out of the running. OTOH, I emailed EVMS about my status and they sent me this email:

"upon investigation of your file - I found that you were completed at the end of November. Because EVMS has rolling admissions - we offer interview slots on a first come - first serve basis. Your file has been reviewed and you will be receiving an invitation to interview with the next set of invitations we send out.

Things always slow down around the holidays, and we are in the process of making our interview schedule for the new year."

Does this mean I have an interview already for sure and they just haven't set the date yet? As for MCV, who knows whats going on there......

*sniffle

i really like UVa, but i appreciate your input. one has to be realistic. i'll just sit tight on it for now. does anyone know if they have been sending out rejections?

Uh oh, no UVA for me, then. Hehe, oh well. I guess I can just hold out some hope for EVU... 😎

last year when i applied to UVa they were so slow! my app was complete in november and i heard NOTHING from them until march. i was also applying for the MD/PhD program so i don't know what effect that had. but i interviewed in march for just the med school and was accepted a few weeks later (early april) and i am out-of-state. so...don't give up hope.

I applied to UVA very early and still heard back nothing yet.

Although my chance of actually choosing UVA is not very high, I still don't wanna withdraw my app b/c I wanna keep my options open.

But then, getting another letter of rejection doesn't feel good 😛

hey
I filled out my UVa secondary in august or september, but didn't have my mcat scores sent until oct. I got an interview packet in early/mid december for a feb date. the funny thing is, I in no way expected to get an interview at UVa--kind of forgot that I had applied there actually--and was very pleasantly suprised to get the invite. I think that's the trick in this whole process...double-think yourself into forgetting that you are even applying to schools...of course, you don't want to double-think to the point where you think you have no plans, freak out and end up applying to law school out of desperation...

Ugh, I too haven't heard back from UVa since my app has been complete in October. Oh i hope it's just the holiday mail is slowing down the transport of my interview invitation...

my husband's app was complete in september or october, interviewed early november, accepted mid-november, out-of-state. no letter of intent or anything... i'm not sure exactly what they're looking for, but their average mcat is about 32, i think. there was one person who had been rejected from uva post-interview, but that's the only rejection i've heard of.
