I have just started my prereqs but definitely some where in Texas ..so less chances in UCLA
 
Paki's represent...any Lahori's?...anyway...didn't apply to UCLA, haven't been accepted yet, but a UPENN interview coming up...inshAllah it should go well...👍

Pakistanis are too sensitive. I have realized they get offended easily. Dont know if it has to do with insecurity or too much pride. Although, simmer down now. Pakis or pakistani or pacman - this is SDN no one means any harm. Geez. grow up maybe?

It's nothing personal, really. No one is insecure or proud. The reason why 'Paki' comes off as an offensive term to most people is that it has been declared a 'hate word' in the United Kingdom. I, personally, have come across very few people who use it in Canada.

Yes, Pakistanis do get emotional very quickly; its just the way we are.

im not sure if its such a deep psychological thing for me at least..i just like speaking urdu..and well, with a non paki or even indian, its just pretty impossible...

as for the paki comments..i have been following along but i frankly think it is the dumbest thing for us to concentrate on...pakis or pakistanis have plenty of other problems...and frankly, paki is a shortened form of pakistani...see you cut off hte stani and u get paki..its not so exciting..perhaps you should concentrate on people improving other aspects of their personalities and social behaviors rather than arguing over semantics. look at the broader picture...thats wat separates us from the illiterate..we are very emotional ppl naturally---step away from that and look at how can we truly improve ourselves in a meaningful way. that is my opinion..and frankly, i do not appreciate anyone else imposing on me what i should refer to myself as

Secondly, I think you're taking a simple idea of an inappropriate word (i.e. Paki) to broad concepts and theologies which frankly are not required.
You're not understanding that the word's origin was meant to be an insult; it was not a short form as one calls someone from Poland a pole, for example.

And by no means is anyone imposing anything on you! I gave my opinion on the term and have backed it as a legitimate point. Its up to every individual if they wish to follow reason or not; you obviously do not want to. Your perogative; no harm done.

as for the "paki" debate, i feel its irrelevant now (in regards to the origin) but yea, thats my opinion.
