Any penalty or disadvantage next year if I decline interviews this year??

I am in a special circumstance and would like to apply this year but I may not be able to attend interviews even if I get lucky and receive interview offers. The problem is, my cause of declining interview may be reasonable to me but won't be a good reason to decline to adcoms.

Will there be any disadvantages if I decline interviews and reapply next year with better app?

Why would you even apply this year if you know you won't be able to attend interviews and are planning to apply with a better app next year? You'd be wasting money by sending out unnecessary apps right now . . . I don't really understand what you're trying to do here haha.

agreed...if I were you I would not apply this year, to have the opportunity to apply (as a first-time applicant) with better stats next cycle! GL
