You don't really need to enjoy your job to make it worth it. Work isn't the only source of enjoyment in life. A job that you don't love or hate but pays better can be just as good.

Look at so many starving artists. They probably love their work, but when they realize that they got no money to pay the bills, then their wives yelling at them... 😉

A job that you love and pays gobs of money is ideal. But life is more often about trade offs than not.
The problem is that compensation is not a constant. It fluxes (see investment banking now without the bonuses). What if you hate your job and only did it because it paid well and now find yourself without that good pay? You'll be miserable. While your job isn't everything, it is what you do for most of your waking day.

you have find what you like...tats the key

in my experience, the staff rph at my 4 different rotations at hospitals would get yelled at by b***** nurses and doctors who think they are hot shots....to me that was a turn off. i to enjoy not dealing with the hands on stuff (althou i did do a rotation with md in which i was in on paps and stds 👎) ....

i enjoy retail a lot cuz i love the fast pace, brings out the adrenaline and time just FLYS by...however, when i started, i was doing consultation to patients, etc but thru various channels i have been told to cut down on my time with patients, and to focus more on getting scripts verified for other stores if i have a free second...that doesnt sit well with me and of course ive decided to move on....but im still happy with my career

the bottom line is students need to do various rotations and see what they enjoy the most, and go that route...its not all about the $$$

The same can be said to retail. It is all about how those 4 rph project themselves. In most hospital hierarchy, it is not because the nurses and doctors can but because the pharmacists allow them to. I mean really... besides the CEO of a hospital aside (usually a MD), the pharmacy department is left alone to be runned by a DOP and thus a different department all together.

thats my point....unruly people can be met in any job setting

the one store my one friend works at, serves nothing but rich people, he hasnt had one bad customer ever....the store i trained at, every other guy was drunk and complaining....its hit or miss

I've had that same dream about being in a cubicle. Ever watch 'Office Space'? I'll take my job at a pharmacy/hospital over that any day, thank you.

Too funny! I'm living that life right now as I wait to start Pharmacy school. I'm a softare engineer and work in a cubicle. office Space is truly my job, I used to work for a company called Inter-Tel, the building mimicked that of office space... and last year part of the building caught on fire (we all blamed Milton!)

Working in a cube isn't that bad because you can surf the web and chat on SDN all day
