Hey everyone! First year onc fellow here.

Wanted to ask if you guys have any recommendations about any authors that upload podcasts or publish articles dissecting the medical literature.

I used to always make time to listen to Dr. Vinay Prasad's podcast evaluating medical literature but he's MIA since his FDA appointment and am looking for someone that does something similar.

Thank you!

Yeah...that guy's a douchecanoe. You weren't doing yourself any favors listening to him.

I mean I could only take him in small doses and I doubt we would be best buddies in person but I felt like he made some decent points… I hope someone else takes up the mantle one day.

OncBrothers is my favorite podcast. 20-minute digestible conversations.

ResearchToPractice is good for longer discussions that dive into the data.

For fellow level (and for quick reviews as an attending) I also like the TwoOncDocs Podcast - it is set up more board review style and hits the highlights in pretty quick fashion but not super in depth unless they’re doing a special update episode.

I actually know the guy. The fact that he's working for RFK Jr these days is in no way a surprise or an accident.

He probably chose the wrong hill to die on with COVID vaccines but I listened to him as a resident and learned quite a bit about topics related to PFS as a suboptimal surrogate endpoint, how patient advocacy groups are in cahoots with the drug manufacturers, etc. That was in 2017 and mainstream pubs are finally starting to bring the issues to light.

Also, his books "Malignant" and "Ending Medical Reversal" are great.

I must agree that I learned several things about critically appraising the literature from those books and his podcasts. I think the sensible medicine and common sense oncology movements are needed at this time and he helped bring them to the forefront.
