Hi, I am just curious as to how these two ways of grading differ, especially to how it effects how students may place in residency. Thanks!

It shouldn't affect much of anything.

The most important stats for residency are the following, according to the AAEM's "Medical Student Survivial Guide":

1. Board Scores
2. Audition Rotation Grade
3. All Other Clinical Rotation Grades
4. Interview
5. Personal Statement
6. Recommendations
7. Extracurricular Activites
