Any predictions on when the Stanford slaughter will begin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
do a search, there was a debate about this.
last year, they screened out a lot; but apparently this year thier website implies no screening.

Hey, check out the stickied link at the top of the page. I posted a link to an internal STanford Adcom memo. It gives numbers, etc.

Pretty scary, if you ask me.

I am pretty sure they will be screening again this year. Someone found the link for the secondary, and it says that it will only be available to those invited to submit.

Stanford sends out seondaries next week. its mostly computer based. For non-URM's or disadvantaged applicants, a composite score of 65 (gpa*10 + mcat) will most likely get you a secondary.
Stanford still screens. What's on their website, ""All applicants will then be sent further information and the forms necessary for completion of the Stanford University School of Medicine's Supplementary Application."
is misleading
it should read "all applicants approved for supplemental application will then...

You write with authority. What's your source?

How about for URM's? What's the minimum composite to get a secondary for URM's?

Yeah, I'm convinced too, with the way he writes! How do you know that?

Nevertheless, I hope the adcom's show some mercy.

I may be the only one who says this, but I am ready to be slaughtered by a few schools. I am sick of writing essays and bleeding money to schools that aren't really going to consider me anyway. I know that I have the choice not to send back secondaries, but I feel like I should try to keep going until the school decides I'm done.
My hat is off to schools that screen, at least at those I know that I REALLY AM in the running, and if one tells me I'm done I can save my money.
Yay Stanford screening! :meanie:

let's just say i have anonymous sources. 🙂
the 65 is just a general guideline. if you are a little bit below that number but have really good activities you might still get a secondary. If you are at 66 or 65 but have crappy activities then there is a chance you might not get a secondary.

I am also hearing that ucla should send there secondary sometime next week if not earlier and for sure before aug 20

Does Stanford email out secondary invites and rejections? If they use snail mail, I will be waiting a looooong time here in Canada...

You should be fine with a 6.5 GPA.
