I read cons and pros on having a professional resume/CV writing services but can't tell whether it is really worthy. I have my own CV and I would like to see which company is worth it to spend my money on. Any suggestions? I was looking at TopResume but it looks like they don't do CVs...

In case you missed the memo, having a standout CV isn’t what’s going to get you a job in this day and age, when there are 15,000 new grads competing for 1,740 jobs each year. Experience and networking is.

But if you want to inflate your hopes and throw hundreds of dollars away by using one of these CV review companies then by all means go for it.

Yeah, unless you are like CEO of 1 company, looking for another CEO job....which I know you aren't, because pharmacists aren't CEO's unless they own the company.....but yeah, unless you are a CEO, there is no need to have your resume reviewed. Nobody will read it, human resources software will scan for keywords to narrow the pile down to 100 or so. Then the hiring person will randomly pick 25 out of that pile to call in for interviews and go from there.

Not to mention that the resume of EVERY new grad looking for a retail job is going to be the same. EVERYONE is going to have APPEs. EVERYONE is going to have internships. EVERYONE has a PharmD. EVERYONE is going to have clubs/volunteering experience. EVERYONE is also going to put as much irrelevant experience as possible on their resumes to “distinguish” themselves. It’s literally a crapshoot. Like I say, no matter how you dress up a piece of poop at the end of the day it’s still a piece of poop.

Increase the likelyhood of getting through the HR software, perhaps?... I don't know if that is even worth it...

Include words like "kisses" and "swallows" in your CV and I'm pretty sure that will get you through the auto screening, at least for retail! The rest is up to you...go get 'em, Tiger!!!
