Any rejections yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I haven't but many schools have been handing them out already.

Pritzker, UCI, Mayo, and Keck have already started handing out rejections

So have Oakland, Eastern Virginia, and Quinnipiac.

rejected from eastern virginia pre-secondary

rejected from indiana and west Virginia but thats because OOS.

Got rejected from G'town only a few days after being complete 🙁

Was also rejected from Tulane. I was really bummed about it. I also did find out from my advisor that our institution (both post-bac and undergrad) has a really poor acceptance rate into Tulane for some odd reason, and that only one pre-med has been accepted to Tulane in the last 5 years haha. So after knowing that, I wasn't too surprised...

Only Mayo here. Others have been silent, except for West Virginia where I have an II 🙂

Mayo rejection pre-LOR request (not surprised since this was a huge reach for me). No word yet from my other 30 schools

I am a passenger on the Gtown rejection train... ouch!!
Mind sharing when you completed? People completed after me were getting rejections but no one completed after me got II...so I'm sitting on pins and needles!

Got Mayo pre-LOR rejection super quickly....it's the second time they've done that. Guess they really didn't want me....

You probably got rejected for the only reason a rejection actually can feel good though so its not a "real" rejection lol

Undershooting results in rejections just as effectively as overshooting.
I find it interesting that applicants understand the latter so much better than the former.

Yea, but my point was that I wouldnt feel as bad for getting rejected from a school because my application is so excellent that it would be ridiculous for the school to even consider me.

Thats more of a compliment than it is a "rejection" even though it is labeled a rejection all the same.

Yes. I understand.
Applicants under-apply almost as much as they over-apply.

I usually don't have to pay $200 for a compliment.

+1 to the OOS with no ties II at WVU group.. I have no idea how they select people...

A friend from Cali got rejected pre-secondary for not having strong ties to the state.
This sounds pretty arbitrary

Have you been to W VA?
They really can't afford to train folks who are likely to leave.

I can't get my students to leave CA for the Brigham! I'm sure that they would hot-foot it back here as soon as they finished medical school.

Absolutely, but other seem to be getting secondaries and II with no ties to the state...

They must have something that gives W VA hope.
I'm OOS, but WVU is a 3 hour drive from here. I think that is why I got the II. Others may also be from surrounding states

What's considered undershooting? I think overshooting is easy to see (If you're more than 1 point away from median MCAT or .2 gpa). Would the same apply for undershooting?

Whaaaa? Good problems to have I guess.

Are you kidding? >1 from the median MCAT does not equate overshooting. It is about the full application.

Yea, I believe I was told to apply to schools from the MSAR + or - 3 of the median MCAT score of each school

Apparently EVMS automatically screens out OOS applicants with a sub-30 mcat. I probably shouldve looked into that some more before applying, but I at least appreciate the fact that they sent the rejection email quickly.

My sense is that U WV likes people from neighboring states, and folks from rural areas.
I'm a NJ resident with an invite there as well with no ties to the state. I live in the suburbs and never mentioned anything about practicing medicine in a rural area in my app. So I still cant quite figure out what they look for in an applicant.
