are you worried it?
are you planning to quit?

though i am not addicted to it (i didn't have to smoke even during exam periods or even mcat), it helps me stay awake, caffeine doesn't work for me....
last nite, i had 4 shots of espresso and 6 cans of pepsi max and they didn't help at all...... >_<

So, you're not addicted to it because you're able to go 6 hours without it?

Just quit 😉 It'll help you out in the long-run. Really. I've never smoked, and I can't imagine how hard of a habit it might be to break...but do it for yourself!

Sorry, guess I'm a little sensitive on the subject...just watched my uncle die of cancer, which was obviously attributed to smoking and drinking.

after recently meeting a COPD patient, just quit. You don't want to be dragging around an oxygen tank when you're older.

No, it's not just unhealthy, but also just a freaking nasty habit. I've kissed a few smokers before. *shudder*

I hear you, and I won't give you any snappy replies. If you just smoke on occasion, or to stay up late every once in a while, then you're okay (in fact, drinking to drunkness once a week or so is more of a health concern than the occasional smoke).

However, I think, as you've seen on this thread, that as you progress in your medical training you'll just be less and less into the idea of smoking--you'll learn how bad it is for you and you'll be around people who don't understand why anyone would smoke in the first place.

I would just say don't sweat it.

I only smoke when I drink. Don't really have a desire for cigs when I'm sober. If I were a sober smoker, I don't think I'd quit. Who wants to be 80 anyway?

But take my advice w/ a grain of salt. I do a lot more than drink and smoke.
