for those verbal experts, is there any effective way of reading questions?

I sometimes spend so much time just reading the question over and over again and I sometimes end up wasting so much time on just rereading the question... so do any of you guys have some sort of technique that would prevent rereading the question?

im no expert, but maybe you're getting in you're own head by reading them over and over and complicating things? Honestly, I use to just focus while reading it once and then pick the answer that made the most sense

the problem is that sometimes, not all the time, I read over the question and I have no idea what the heck it was asking and then I get stressed out and reread it again and again and I end up losing so much time

hmmm maybe you're reading too passively? maybe you need to focus a bit more? just a suggestion

I do that sometimes. What helps me is breaking down the question phrase by phrase, like every 5 words.

"Which if the following, if true"...ok, good so far..."would LEAST support"....ok the question choices will be mostly things that support the author...."the passage assertion that the deathead in the painting was more significant in Poussin's later work" ....WTF.!?!! ....ok ...deathhead...painting...answer must be something where deathead was weaker in 2nd painting....PAINTING WEAKER NOT STRONGER..

and go from there.

lol thats kinda similar to the approach I started developing, like you mean, break it into smallar segments then take out main points that refer to specific item in the passage?
what works best for me is when I paraphrase the question but I end up spending so much time that way as well
