Hello everybody, Im Latina, and Im super happy to see that there is a lot of response to this thread.
I moved to the U.S, almost 10 months ago. Im a certified Dentist in Mexico and Im looking for a job as a Dental Assistant.I live in Wisconsin.
I do have a working permit and ssn. I start to apply for new jobs since the beggining of January and so far I havent been lucky. All my experience and references are from Mexico, so I dont know if that is not helping me to find a job. Do you guys have any sugestion or tips? so I can get a job. I already spoke with the A.D.A and the Dental Assistant National Board, everything looks pretty easy because I have all the requirements, but is not working at all. Should I be more patient?
Tks a lot

Hola Latina!
Just so you know I am Indian 🙂
That's right. Just be patient. Also visit the Wisconsin State Dental Board and see if they have any requirements for DA like certification, passing National Board Dental Assistant Exam, X ray certification, CPR requirements etc.
Check the job listings and see what requirements the DDSs are asking for. Eg- in CA they ask for X ray certification.
Good luck

Thanks a Lot, for your advise. I will try to pull out patiente from God knows where.
Im so bored and I miss Dentistry like you have no idea. Everyday I check the Job Listings. I have applied easy for 7 jobs; from those only one called me to fill an application and even before the interview wich they say they will call to schedule and they did Not, they send me a letter telling me that they hired someone else. I mean come on!, how did they do that before even giving me the chance. Anyway, I will keep looking and hope next time I have good news.
Oh, and from other postings they where like a kind of agency where they ask for all the previous experience and a Dental Assistant and apparently they look for jobs send the Cv totally free for the applicant, but they charge the Dentist that hires you. Should I apply and try to see if they can find something for me? 🙂
