Hey you guys,

I'm starting prep for the 2009 cycle. This will be my 2nd try. To those who have reapplied, did you make any changes to your application (ie: personal statement, secondary application essays, lists of schools, etc)? Do you think if I were to apply to the same schools, should I change my secondary application essays or keep them (I still have previous drafts of my secondary essays). I really want to get into the University of Minnesota and I have gotten an interview but I dont' think I made it so I'm wondering if I could reuse my old application....do you think that the ADCOMS keep my old application and compare & contrast to see improvement and more experience from me?

Thanks!

In addition to the questions lexx0213 asked, can someone also share with us whether they think dental schools will want new LORs?

Detroit Mercy has a specific reapplicant protocol regarding LORs. Were any of the letters subpar?

If there are no significant changes in the application why would you expect a different result on the second go around?

luck! and maybe applying earlier and maybe doing better on the interview.

For me, not getting piano passage😉 again and hopefully improve my RC from 16 to atleast 18 or over.

And applying june 1st instead of september 15.

Would "significant change" mean a lot more volunteer hours or more volunteer experiences? I mean, I am continuing on volunteering at the same dental clinic and shadowing dentists....but to me, that's not a significant change since I'm just continuing what I've been doing. So this is why I'm confused...

I really wanna know if I should be changing my PStatement much as well...I'm rewriting DAT hopefully end of July (wrote it Aug 25th last year) and also going to start looking to shadow a dentist again

The good news is that you are unlikely to see the piano passage the second time around. The bad news is that you are likely to find an equally if not "more difficult" passage.

"Luck" and "applying earlier", "more volunteer hours or more volunteer experience" are not exactly significant changes. But additional courses and degrees might do the trick. Adcoms do not need your old application to notice any "significant changes" since those will be evident from the chronology you will be re-submitting.
