As i study, i cant help but think there's a better way to remember all of it. For those of you who have already taken the latter half of bio, (and did well in it) how did you go about remembering all of the taxonomy? Thanks

you mean like domainkingdomblahblah? or clades? or what

What a waste of time that was. Think I remember any of it? Nope. LOL.

No short cuts.

I preferred not to waste too much of my time on it, hence B/B+s where there should have been As. I learned the lesson too late. Suck it up, memorize however easiest it is for you to memorize, get the grade you need, and toss it out your memory afterwords.

And I'd wish they changed the way they teach basic/intro biology so it weren't so heavy on rote memorization. Information like that is so readily accessible nowadays no one "knows" beyond what is immediately relevant to their study/research, but they certainly know how to obtain information if they needed it. They understand it's uses, limitations, and application to their field. I feel so strongly about the way science is taught I sometimes consider becoming an academic just to try and bring about some change, no matter how modest. But my heart belongs to the OR.

Not sure what you mean by "remember animal taxonomy". There's not a person on the face of the planet who remembers the taxonomy of every species. If you're referring to the Domain, Kingdom... stuff, this includes many things that are not animals. The best way to remember things period is simply to study it many times. Look at it once today, once tomorrow, once a couple days after that and then try to write it out for yourself.

Also, to howisbabbyformd, i almost pooped myself laughing when I saw your name and avatar. That is one of the most beautifully idiotic things on the internet. Makes me rofl every time.

Yeah, that's not a fun class. Just memorize things as you go. The goal should be to do well enough on the midterms so that you can avoid trying to remember everything for the final.
