Any WVSOM Class of 2011 - Hollaback!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
HI! I was accepted early in the process, but I honestly don't think it'll be WVSOM for me. Don't get me wrong, the people & the school were Fabulous, but the Outof State tuition is not encouraging. I'm still pondering all my options at this point.....but best of luck to you either way, even if I don't see you as a potential classmate

I was accepted to WVSOM but tuition is really high. I have also been accepted to AZCOM and I am going there for sure.

I was accepted and will be attending. Just got the big rejection from both of the school I had ranked along with WVSOM. Still some apps out there that I will let play out. However, I am sending my deposit next week, High tuition and all! Are you interested in PBL or SBL? I am thinking PBL.

Hey! I was accepted to WVSOM and am from Ohio but after talking to numerous people in high places I know ive come to the conclusion that the place where I go is much more important than the tuition... because as long as we graduate we will be able to pay off the dept and for primary care there are a gazillion options for scholarships.... odds are looking pretty good ill be at WVSOM in 2007!

🙂 congratulations & best of luck to all of you guys!!!!!!! & Happy Thanksgiving

i might be there. haven't really decided. haha got another week or so. 😀

Not sure about PBL or SBL...leaning toward PBL, but it's still up in the air! Have a happy turkey day all!😀

Hey WVSOMers,

I just checked my online checklist and it said "Accept Applicant." Does this mean what I think it means?? Angie told me I wouldn't hear a response until after Christmas break. For those who are accepted, does that mean that I am too?!? I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it's late, and I can't call the Admissions Office to confirm.

Thanks!

YES!!! CONGRATS!!!! Do you think you will be joining us?? Angie just tells you that so you don't call all the time. Some people are decided quickly, other have to wait. CONGRATS

Just wanted to give a big hola and congratulations to everyone who was accepted to WVSOM! I've known that's where I wanted to go since I started looking into schools and I can't wait to be there!

I've already been accepted into PBL. Any other PBLers? I'm excited to get to know you all as fellow students and future physicians!

Out of curiosity, anyone else from Michigan?

how were you alreadyaccepted into pbl? i heard we have to petition after we start school.

When I went down in August after I was accepted and they told me to email Dr. Modrzakowski (Dean of PBL) and let him know I was interested. He sent me back an email with instructions on writing an essay. He told me that the committee would meet and I would know whether I had been admitted or not.

You can get his email in the directory on the WVSOM website, or PM me.

During orientation we are split up into SBL and PBL for some different things, so I believe the positions are filled before the start of orientation.

But PBL is definitely the way to go! Let me know if you have any more questions! 😀

Hey, congratulations and welcome to everybody who has been accepted at WVSOM for 2011 from the Class of 2010. This is a great school, and I'm sure you will all do great when you get here!

Looks like it will be WVSOM for me this year! They have my $2,0000 dollllas!
😀

Sent in my deposit too!

Hey everyone, I just got accepted and I am leaning towards WVSOM but I still have some decisions to make based off of other schools. Also, the tuition is something to consider haha. Anyway, I hope to see some of you next year.

For all you guys accepted first of all congrats. I have an interview there on Feb. 5th. I was wondering what exactly should I expect at the interview, and what kind of stats did you guys who got in have? Thanks

A spot will be opening up... I'm not sending in my matriculation deposit.

I've decided that CCOM will likely be a better choice for me. I noticed that Lewisburg doesnt' have a Circuit City and that just wouldn't work for me. kidding of course... The interview and everyone at WVSOM was great so something inside of me hurts to let this go... I really do wish you guys all the best!

Thanks for the opportunity guys 😍

Drmax, I wish ya the best o' luck at CCOM. Go with what your gut tells you and where you think you would be the happiest and least stressed, because your environment and comfort will play as large a role in your success in medical school as will your understanding of the material.

Thats the way I felt when I declined the offer.

PRIMER, I have a 3.37 and a 23 MCAT. I got in because of my interview and my extracurriculars. When you go to the interview have answers to anything that may not look too good. For example, I had to withdrawal from a class one term because I was sick and I also had to explain to them why my MCAT is so low. Those are the questions I had to answer and you might get similar ones. As for WVSOM, its a great school and I wish you the best of luck at the interview.

Thanks jg, and good luck with everything.

I've been looking for places down in Lewisburg for some time now and I've got my name on the list for Woodland Akers. I'm wondering if anyone is interested in being roommates this fall? Private message me if you're interested! 😀

And the population of students in Melrose Place...I mean...Woodland Akers grows. Soon we will have enough to form our own army of OMT trained ninjas to take over!

Hahah, are you a current Woodland Akers resident big cat? When I visited the school it was recommended to me by one of the students that I talked to (unfortunately his name is eluding me right now, all I remember is that he was from Clarksburg...) Is it a pretty nice place to live?

It is indeed. Although alot depends on how finicky your neighbors are, as the walls are semi-sorta thin. But 98% of the students who live here all have good things to say about it that I've noticed.

Does anyone have an idea of the acceptance rate for students interviewed?
