Hello,

I recently transferred from a California community college to a top public university in California.

I felt confident as a pre-med entering this school. My sGPA and cGPA from community college were 3.71 and 3.81, respectively. I worked as a caregiver for three years while attending community college. I had extensive shadowing and volunteering experiences. I was determined to do well at the university and go to medical school.

I earned a 3.0 sGPA and a 3.11 cGPA my first semester at the university. I did not study as much as I should have and I did not study effectively.

Now, I am experiencing self doubt.

I am hopeful, however. I look forward to the classes I will be taking, and I am confident that I will perform better. Also, I am excited because I will soon begin helping medical doctors perform basic research at one of the top medical schools in the country.

I do not think my poor performance during my first semester at the university will ruin my possibility of going to medical school. I think if I learn from my mistakes and do better for the remainder of my time at the university, then I will have a decent chance at going to medical school, provided I do well on the MCAT.

Does anybody have any insight on this experience, or want to share a similar experience of their own?
