no but sometimes i get the feeling that there is little difference when it comes to some classmates....anybody else find this true?

I'd say it is safe to say that given any large group of people brought together from various cultures, who have thier own unique life experiences, they may have learned behaviors and social perspectives differently, including what they find important, serious, or fun.....that is why you expect to find that some people are different. But, by and large we all have our days made up of the same experiences of medical school so that makes us start to seem more alike.

or maybe this profession attracts the more formal, serious type of person? i dunno...it seems like about half of my class is this way. there are some people who after a whole year are just the same as they were the first day of class. you'd think they would loosen up a little after a while...no?

Perhaps everyone just tenses up and acts formal and serious around you. When you aren't there it's a laughfest.

When you yourself are a happy and fun person, you really don't need to worry about what kind of people are around you. You can make any situation fun-for yourself and others too. A little wisdom from an old but very silly (when necessary) non-trad 🙂

Yeah... we are all a bunch of nerds. You got a problem with that?!?

J/K... I think the medically inclined are overachievers and feel the need to come across as overly intelligent. However, I think once you get to know people better they become a lot cooler. Just my take on it.

In undergrad I wasn't part of the pre-med group, because I thought that they were all super competitive and cut throat. But once I gave them a chance I realized that some (not all but some) were pretty cool. Actually, I wish I had opened up sooner, because I made some awesome friends.
