Looking for programs back home in NJ. And cant find much on forums about it. Just noticed it on freida and their website has nothing from residents. Hopefully some one here knows a little?

Thanks

The docs there are currently Sheridan or whoever bought them at this point (AMC). Sold out a few years ago I believe. They had a program way back when and then it was eliminated. Now it seems it’s back with AMC mgmt. enjoy!

thanks a lot!

Should the fact they they were eliminated in the past concern me? When that happens could i be in my 3rd year of residency and they just say oops, sorry lol? That would maybe be less than ideal. i do like the location!

Workhorse program.

is it a workhorse program because they apparently only take 4 residents?

Yes, it should concern you a lot. Don’t be the first resident in this new crop if you can help it - I don’t know the details, but it takes a really, really troubled program to be shut down by the ACGME.

If a program closes down, I belive you are designated an orphan resident and can get into a different program more easily,, I believe acgme helps you find a spot but not sure exactly how it works

A few years ago when St. Vincent closed, those residents were disbursed to the rest of NYC.

There are a few programs in “northern jersey”. St. Joes and St. Barnabas come to mind. If you’re looking to be work horse, heard both will work you. I think St. Joes belongs to NAPA, St. Barnabas belongs to Mednax. So you have your choices of AMCs.
