I'm interviewing at UAB next Friday. I know it's a group interview with about 5 applicants and maybe two faculty, so I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this type of interview? Or what kinds of questions to expect? UAB is one of my top choices so I'm getting a little nervous.

Any tips would be great for a group interview or any info on UAB!

Thanks and good luck to everyone! 🙂

Group interviews are nothing to be scared of. The two places that I went to interview both had group interviews, but of very different nature. At Temple, it was 7 of us with 2 students and 2 faculty members. They asked each of us one question (different for each person) that was "behavioral based" such as what do you do when you're stressed, when did you have to make an unpopular decision etc... then the second question was just why PT. At Emory, it was 3 of us with 3 faculty members, and there were 6-7 questions and each of us had the chance to answer first, second, third for each question. The questions were like why PT, why Emory, etc...

I think most people get nervous about group interviews bc they are scared about other pple saying something similar to your answer before you. It's ok to have a similar answer to another person in your interview, but be sure to also add something of your own that makes the answer different from everyone else's. Honestly, group interviews aren't that bad. And when other people are answering, you can use that time to think about what your answer should be (which I found very helpful for some of the questions I was asked at emory).

Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Best of luck at your interview

when were you notified about the interview? i haven't heard anything from them yet. is there just one interview date?

jchen707- Thanks so much for your input! It was very helpful. I actually have very similar stats to you, congrats on Emory. I also applied to Emory at the end of December but haven't heard anything. I'm thinking I may have been too late, but we'll see!

foreverlazy- I got a call last week on Wednesday or Thursday. I have no idea how many interview days there are, but I imagine there is more than one. I applied very early when I was sending out my application to other schools with much earlier deadlines, so that may be a factor in their interview scheduling. Good luck!

Hopefloats - np, if you have anymore questions feel free to PM me. You aren't too late for Emory. As of right now, there have only been about 15-20 pple accepted (I asked Monica, the secretary, when I was putting down my deposit) from the first two interviews. Since my interview, Monica said there would be about 4-6 more starting in Jan, prob through March. one of the students that met with us was accepted after being interviewed in at the end of March (she said she submitted her app in Jan). The deadline for Emory is in Feb so you will probably hear about a decision soon. Good luck!
