I am applying in the 2013-2014 cycle and was wondering which schools look mostly at pre-req gpa. Due to these stats

cum gpa: 3.17
pre-req: 3.7-3.8
GRE 146V (me fail english?) 154Q 4.0AW

I realize observation hours and LOR's are key to getting an interview as well. But I was curious as to those schools that look primarily at pre-req GPA. Thanks for any help and good luck to those applying this cycle! :xf:

Every school I have come across always state that they look at all components of the application. Not one requirement is looked favorable than the other. They look at the whole package.

As far as prerequisites, they look at that because they consider them to be the foundation for the science behind occupational therapy.

In other words, I don't believe there is a school out there that only looks at prerequisites during their decision process.
Good luck

I think a school in Indiana only looks at pre-req GPA & not composite or last 60. I would look into that - just can't remember which school specifically.

Yeah, you're not going to find any schools that only look at one requirement and completely ignore everything else (at least they would never admit that). That being said, though, almost every school I looked at seemed to favor chronological improvement in grades over the course of your academic career; i.e. they understand that a lot of people mess something up in the first half of their college career and they "get their **** together" for the second half. Or, most will be willing to overlook a couple bad grades here and there as long as the overall picture looks good. And most will definitely be willing to overlook a C here and there in unrelated elective courses if you were getting A's in your prereqs.

You've got respectable stats, though. I got accepted to 2 of 3 schools with a lower GPA than that. I didn't have to take the GRE though, so I don't really even know if that's good or not. A lot of it will boil down to your application essay and how you incorporate/explain why some of your stats might be lower than other applicants.

I think you are underestimating yourself a bit. My stats were a lot lower than that and even I managed to get an interview. If you're last 60 GPA is higher perhaps you could apply to schools that only look as that.
