Anybody study for/take the MCAT while taking Orgo 2 and Physics 2?

I had just taken Orgo 1, but I already had both Phys 1 and 2. You NEED physics most definitely. I only had 1 orgo passage on mine and a few orgo discretes, but your test may be different. Crack open a Berkeley Review and begin!

Between without orgo 2 and being familiar with all associated rxns, my practice AAMC scores capped around 30-31 (which is what I hope I got).

My advice is to know everything, but you can probably get an acceptable MCAT score with just orgo 1.

I took both classes this spring and am taking the MCAT on June 20th. I started studying for the MCAT in March. Be careful not to take the exam to close to finals-before or after. Organic 2 has a lot of reactions to learn, so while not difficult it takes time to learn them. I feel taking both classes right before the MCAT is helping me because it does reduce some of the content review since some of the material is still fresh in my head.

@postbacpremed87 yeah I heard it depends heavily on what type of passages I get. A friend of mine took it without Orgo 2 and did just fine.

@jitterbug778 I was thinking March.

Do you think taking the MCAT in March (while taking Orgo 2 and physics 2) is alright? I ask this because much of the content will be already gone over and fresh even though I would still have about 2 months left in the classes.

I would say yes if you can heavily cement your Physics 2 knowledge pre-MCAT. Know electricity, optics, magnetism, sound - Doppler effect cold (these are tested quite frequently).

Most of the organic chem comes from orgo 1 topics. You will not do well on the mcat without physics 2.

I took it 2 weeks after finals and I had ochem 2 and genetics. I had physics 2 already, but it's doable if you do it at the end of the semester, you just have to stay focused
