I'm only on Columbia's waitlist. 5/15 is coming up, and I'm really trying not to hope for anything (less expectation = less stress)

I plan to reapply next year (after either BU MAMS or Harvard Extension School) because I really want to increase my chances as much as possible, and my senioritis this year hasn't been good for my GPA 😎

I have a dumb question though, why do people expect the good news on May 15th? If people who want to drop, they should drop before May 15th right? Not so many people would wait for the last minute I assume. Myself is waiting on three public schools. I hope I could get in one of them. 😳

A. Were waiting for financial aid packages that never came
B. Are incapable of making a decision, and faced with a deadline in a fit of rage picked one because they had to*
C. They were anal, self absorbed pre meders (not to much of a stretch 😉 😉 😉 ) and enjoyed the prestigue of being a multiple accpet*
D. Combination of the above

The fact of the matter is a vast majority of the waitlist movement will occur in approximatly 1-3 weeks after May 15th, since there is no other hard day most people on waitlists selected this day because they know its the begining of the reaping. No one expects a letter on May 15th, they just know that day is the cause of their (hopefully) soon to come accept letter.

*Before I get flamed by the multiple, Im adding a little bit of hyperbole there.

I was invited to interview for the UCLA RAP Program today. I'm still hoping I get off the UCLA waitlist... but this would be a great back up plan. The UCLA RAP website said that 97% of the students that completed their program and applied to med school were accepted. Those odds sound pretty good🙂

I didn't actually realize how much my bf cared about me until I was talking to one of his friends that's a girl and she told me. I'm all in on this one. From the get go it was my #1 and incidentally the ONLY school I interviewed at.

There isn't anything I own that I wouldn't give up for that acceptance letter. Seriously. Any material possession I have. Sinai can have it for that "yes."

I am just having a crappy night and wanted to vent a bit. I am currently at work - 12 hour night shift - on a friday night. I just talked to my friend who told me that my friends were all out having a blast. And I am stuck here till 7:30am. i work as a cna at a hospital - so basically I am the grunt who gets to do all the butt wiping. To make matters worse, we are short staffed tonight. And to add insult to injury, I got this crappy job so that it would make my application look better from last year (was on one waitlist that went no where) but it didn't work - I am on two waitlists with no acceptances. So I have this crappy job that I have to work crappy hours and do crappy things and I am always missing out on everything without accomplishing what I hoped to by all this crappiness!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!! ...ok... that feels better.... just needed to vent.... I just need to hang in there a little longer and perhaps something will happen after May 15th.... oh and I don't really hate my job all the much it's just not what I expected that I would be doing at this point in my life with my wonderful degree in Chemistry.... but anyways... back to work I go..... Just a few more days until May 15th!!

Many of the available spaces are now being held by the same people. Spots will begin to open up. Many schools continue to invite student until the day classes start.

This is so true. I went to SLU and there was a girl who got the call from UNC during orientation at SLU. She wanted to go to UNC so badly she proceeded to withdraw from SLU and move all the way back to NC where she had originally come from! She said, "It's like taking a vacation...with everything you own." Heh.

That's crazy! Schools aren't even supposed to offer an acceptance after someone starts orientation at another school. It's become a free-for-all!

Nah Kelli didn't say anything, I was just going by what people had posted on the Sinai forum... I figured that if the first wave of off-the-waitlist acceptances happened in early june, then meeting for decisions would be occurring at the end of this month... all just theory though.

I just read that sinai waitlist thread. If they haven't met yet... that's just a bugger!

I'll just continue doing my research,volunteering,partying,drinking,djing,rockclimbing,breakdancing,sewing,eating, watching-that-badass-show-known-as-prison-break
and try not to have an aneurysm over the whole prospect of having to do this all over again 😳
