A friend of mines only applied to 1 school because his wife could not relocate her job--- I'm interested to see your responses...

I only applied to 1 school. It is risky, but also shows that you have a vested interest in that program. It's a double-edged sword that ends up with you very happy or reapplying in a year. :scared:

That is risky-- any particular reason why you couldn't apply to others? Are you unable to relocate or just choose not to? Are your stats rockin'?

if he knows he can only go to that one school, why waste the time or money. To think someone would choose his marriage over medicine.......................he probably isn't cut out for this physician thing.😛

Thats what you're doing with the Early Decision Programs. (Not sure if DO schools have EDPs).

Only completed two secondaries. 1 interview and 1 acceptance. Saved lots of money!

I had only applied to TCOM, through their Early Decision Program. One application, one secondary, one interview, one acceptance. My application expenses amounted to less than $200.😀

Its only risky if you arent a stellar applicant...or a lucky one. 😉

i would love to apply only to nycom but my stats arent outstanding so its a crapshoot if i only apply to 1

I only applied to NYCOM and didnt fill out a secondary until it was mailed to me and I got in so its doable. It was nervewracking though.

They mail it to you; you bring it completed with you to the interview.

I'm in the same boat as you--- I'm not sure if my stats would be high enough to apply to only one school. Any word from nycom?

And by the way, Doc G and the Nu Guy and the others who were daring enough to only apply to 1-2 schools and got in 👍 it's risky, but I agree, if you feel confident in your stats or if you have no other choice, it's a waste of money to apply where you know you won't/can't go.

Super woo hoo!! 😉 I'm curious, for those that only applied to 1-2 schools, what were the reasons why you chose to do that? Confident in your scores? Didn't want to or couldn't move to another location?

Combination of things...I only wanted to go DO, and I wanted to stay in Texas, so that kinda' narrowed things down. My numbers were above the TCOM average, I have a strong interest in OMM, really dig the osteopathic philosophy, and the fact that I had 4 DOs write letters for me (all were TCOM alumni) kinda' gave me all the more reason to just apply there.
