Does anyone know of anybody that has been accepted into an advance standing program with a Part 1 score of 75.

Other stats:
GPA: 3.41
Toefl IBT: 85
Studying for part 2 at the moment .

I can imagine the response will be take Part 1 again but just wanted to know if anyone has actually ever been accepted with 75 and if the GPA may help.
Thanks

sorry to burst the bubble.but you have no other option.75 is a passing score but way too low to be accepted anywhere. My suggestion is start preparing for part 1 again.try to find out the subjects u are weak in and prepare for them more this time.good luck.believe me study hard and everything will be fine.

Thanks for the honest response. Do you think even if by some chance miracle getting a fantastic Part 2 score (over 90) there would still be no chance of getting an advance standing place??
Would appreciate everyones input on .
Thanks

I agree with BDS.... Also, I think your TOEFL is kind of low.... most schools requiere between 90 and 100 on iBT.... Please, check the requierement for the school you want to get in....

Agreed with both TOEFL and Part 1 scores. Low scores in Part 1 may be considered as long as
  1. they have enough seats available
  2. you are smart chap in extra curricular activities
  3. you are master in all the courses you took till date
  4. personal statement - convincing the readers that you are second to none.
With both the TOEFL and Part1 being low, I see it less feasible to score any admission. What's your GPA or % in your Bachelors ?

GPA 3.41- only real thing going in my favour!

Hi write 2 dentist. I have a question. What would be consider a good extra curriculum activity

Hi,
Well, it will be harder to be admitted with 75, but:
1. your GPA is very good,
2. maybe your CV is outstanding (some experience, honors, publications, more than 2 foreign languages, some research)
3. you have positive letters of recommendation,
4. you've done volunteer work in the university/dental school you wish to apply,
5. "they" know what you know, "they" like you, and "they" want you in.
If you have all these 5 points just don't worry, and prepare for the interview and practical exam.
Good luck! :luck:

Thanks for the advice. i am not really very hopeful but was again wondering if ANYONE knows of anyone being accepted with a 75???

YES, i do know of 2 people with both having scored 75 in part 1being accepted for advanced standing dds,BUT the reason was that they applied to a program that started new that year, and not many people knew about it and there was a window of only a month between the start of the program and application deadline. only 20 applications were received that year. 14 people invited for interview. and 10 accepted for the program.please do not pm me to inquire about the name of the school as I cant reveal it.Please look at www.ada.org to find out about new programs starting every year. keep yourself updated.
BUT, i highly recommend retaknig your exam without wasting any time, as these instances are very rare and you cant wait for it to happen. and while you study for retaking part 1, you may go ahead and apply to schools that are not that picky about very high scores.it is very competitve to get in a school now as too many people have competitive scores, so plan your line of action accordingly.good luck to you.

YES and NO!
If you have a very good CV, letters of reco., GPA over 3.0, TOEFL over 100, experience, honors, publications, volunteer work, etc... just don't worry with this score.
If you don't have much "to show", except NBDE I, just forget it! You know that this is only an exam and it is considered just one of the many requirements for admission. Yes, it's true that it is very important, but not so important as you think.
This is more than a professional advice I gave you, consider this a friendly advice. I cannot tell you more because I don't know more, but what I know... I just know, and you have to believe me.
I applied this year for Advanced Program for International Dentists. I really have a lot in my CV, but my weakest point is Part 1, in the 80s like you. In rest, I have everything.
So try to improve your CV as much as you can, and you will be fine.
If you have further questions, please feel free and express them in a private message. Good luck! :luck:

Curriculum Vitae....= Resume.
