anyone do anything "unique" during their undergrad years?
something that looked "impressive" in your apps, yet it meant a lot to you?

No! were pre-meds, are you insane? nothing we do is unique, no matter how many diseases we eradicate. Once I was lost in the woods with a bunch of kids that were camping in the middle of the Russian winter, I found and killed a bear and then make blankets out of him for the kids, leaving myself to freeze. Do you think I'm gonna put that on my app? Hell no! because half of SDN has done **** like that.

I lived for 18 months in a complex dedicated to people learning different languages at my university. I was keeping up my Portuguese and had Brazilian roommates. In addition, I had friends there who were Italian, Argentine, Peruvian, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Moroccan, etc. Do I think it will look that cool on amcas? Probably not, but it was a lot of fun.

Stem Cell Research! Fun times..

I had a face-to-face contact with some Jupiterians -The ETs from Jupiter- once . interestingly, they kind of look like us.

Co-coordinator for my family's bi-annual 4 day family reunion...very organized event that moves to diff locations around the country...average number of family members who attend is approx. 200 (+).

We start planning two years before the actual event (immediately after the last reunion)...find a suitable hotel...workout all travel logistics...send out correspondence...develop and mantain a sturdy budget...and have the reunion..

Volunteer Work/Camping Experiences for adults with mental ******ation x 3yrs and Kamp Kaleidoscope (week long camp for children with autism spectrum disorders) x two years. Those were before I was pre-med, so I definitely wasnt looking for "application padding".

I'd never been camping, so they were amazing experiences on all levels. 👍

trained/training for the Olympics in my sport.

Volunteered for 2 years with Mama's Kitchen in San Diego which makes and delivers meals for housebound AIDS patients and other people with severe illness. It may not be impressive but it was an amazing experience!

katrina relief and the D1 rowing team

I can do waves with my stomach, flip my eyelids inside out, and make fart sounds with my hand on my forehead all at the same time...I wish I would have put that in my EC's...

Well, I don't mean to brag, but...

I am the official title holder for the "who can hold their hand in a bucket of ice water the longest" contest

AND (and you thought I couldn't top that)
the runner up for the biochemistry bake-off (the prof came in first so I think it was rigged...)

(and sadly this is all true!!)

ughh...."look at me! look what I can do!" We are not unique snowflakes. We are no more interesting or "well-rounded" than finance majors or citizens of Nigeria. We're just people and we all have things that make us who we are. Some people play sports, some people play music, whatever. As long as you have interests, you will be "interesting" to ad coms. Personally, my claim to fame is that I'm good enough on a drumset to go pro, had I chosen to 🙂

I can plaiy the recorder with my nose and burp the abcs

I play the drum sets too and I have a band (actually put that in my AMCAS activities section), I'm a citizen of Nigeria, and I was an Intern in the Adult movies industry for 2 years.

Backpacking instructor!

Met the White Power Ranger Tommy.

I kid you not.

He runs a kung fu studio in my city back home.

that's awesome. did you compete? or will you in the next one?

the next one...i'm deciding whether (if i get in, of course) I will try to enter late...or just be happy with the thought that i could do it and start school. i'm actually leaning towards the latter.

, and I was an Intern in the Adult movies industry for 2 years.
Am I missing something, or is this as straightforward as it sounds?
Is this an activitythat med schools are impressed by or something? is this a joke???

Played in some professional pool tournaments. Never won a match though. 😛

What do you all think of Teach for America?

Of course it's a joke.

i actually did work for the adult entertainment industry before
i was hired by someone to design a website and later on found out that it was for a famous porn actress

i dont think it's bad, it was just design work

I compete in the california state olympics and have actually won a few divisions for my sport. I was also invited to the National Games.

I've been known to fly from time to time.
It only happens during the full moon though, and only when I really, really, really concentrate.

I've been an avid SCUBA diver since I was thirteen. If I won the powerball I would open my own dive shop in cayman's and dive everyday

Got my private pilot's license and logged about 200 hours of flight time. Unique - yes. Look good on app - probably not.
