I know that AZCOM has a decel track since we have about five decels from the 2008 class in the 2009 class. Some deceled because they couldn't handle it, but most did so because of family/personal issues. From what I hear it is working out pretty well for them. But Midwestern has just made it so you have to pay for the extra decel year. This wasn't the case before, so I don't think it's a good idea anymore.

MSUCOM has a decelerated program, it is prorated, so we pay the same tuition overall. I have no regrets whatsoever about choosing this path. I had time to spend with family and time to study.

I know COMP has a program that you can apply to which keeps you there for 5 years. You apparently teach during your 5th year, and in exchange you get a tuition waver for years 3 and 4 plus a stipend for your 5th year.

I guess that's not technically deccelerated, but certainly an unusual situation.

I think most osteopathic schools have this. It's an OP&P fellowship. The only school I've visited so far that doesn't seem to have this program is CCOM.

A fellowship is not a decelerated program. Usually you have to apply for the fellowship and there is competition for it. At DMU, we have a OMM fellowship program. We don't formally have a decelerated program but we do have some people that repeat a certain year or certain classes; we usually say that they are on the '5 year plan.' I don't believe you can apply for this, but have to have certain circumstances that allow for you to do this. Most people I know that did it have family issues, failed some classes, or other personal issues that didn't allow them to progress with everyone else...
