CONTACT CONGRESS ABOUT MASSIVE CUTS IN PATHOLOGY/LABORATORY REIMBURSEMENT

THESE CUTS COULD RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT JOB LOSS AND LABORATORY CLOSURES
Massive cuts in payment rates for pathology and laboratory services could occur as a result of a proposed regulation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS is proposing that some pathology and laboratory services would be slashed as much as 50 to 80 percent.

Oh yeah, and of course, there's definitely going to be a shortage of pathologists in the next few years....wonder why. 😀

I'm getting gloom and doom emails from every organization. Many labs will go out of business if something isn't done. No doubt about it. Write your representatives. Show the costs of running tests and how the reimbursement doesn't cover it.

If you want something to cheer you up, look at In-office pathology's facebook page. It only has one LIKE. 🙂

Ever seen the movie Dune? That is what we're talking about come January 1, 2014.

It probably will in November of this year once the cuts are announced. Stay away from any pathology labs that are more than 1 story.
