anyone else going to keep studying after MCAT?

So i took the MCAT yesterday, and was feeling... OK. But today I realized TWO mistakes I made on BS. (Had it narrowed to two, but looked both up today and both were wrong.) They were both so incredibly stupid. I cannot stop beating myself up and am literally terrified to the point of being sick.

As a result, I've decided the best thing to do is just keep studying and doing practice passages, assuming that I'll have to retake. I don't think I'll retake until after scores come out, because what if I did worse on the retake, etc. Most likely looking at retaking in August.

Anybody else going this road? Just curious.

Just take a break yo. Studying right now is pretty pointless. If you are waiting for your score before scheduling a retake, then it is unlikely you will be able to take an August test. your scores will come out in a month, so around aug 17th. It might even be difficulty to find a September test at that time.

Seriously studying the day after you took the mcat sounds crazy. Just chill, dont visit SDN, and relax for a while. Besides, there is also a chance that the questions you missed were experimental questions and won't affect your score 🙂.

I was originally planning on doing this, but taking the MCAT changed all of that. I studied and worked as hard as I possibly could. After finishing the entire ordeal, I decided I would absolutely not pick up another textbook until getting my score. We as pre-meds work very hard. So at some point, you have to just trust your abilities and let go of something you have no control over. Whether it's god, science, god/science, yourself, or Lady Gaga....you need to trust in something and hope that everything works out.

By the way, my score is scheduled for tuesday, but it's possibly tomorrow. AHHHH!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱

I doubt they were experimental questions since both were "random factoids" and I believe they were from different passages. I am curious about why everyone thinks it's actually counterproductive to study. Sucky and exhausting/discouraging yes, but counterproductive?

Eh, I say you go for it and report your findings back to us, for science.

you need to be in the correct mental state to study and properly intake knowledge. studying now will just be a waste of time and render you more exhausted making it hard for you to study when you actually need to.

spend some time with family and friends, don't think about the mcats for at least a few days. those few days of rest will do you more good in the long run than actually studying during that time.

also, TWO mistakes? Wow that might reduce your score by one point if you're scoring in 12-15 range. People here are so neurotic.

ITA with tak08810. If I thought I'd only made 2 mistakes on my exam I would dance delirously with joy around the bonfire made with my practice materials.😀

the thing is, there are also mistakes that you aren't aware of. if i was really desiring a certain score, and i know i'm capable of it, but i'm uncertain of how i did then i would keep studying in the event i plan to retake.

There needs to be a sticky on what to do after the MCAT, with some stories about people getting awesome scores when they walked out of the test feeling horrible, etc. Just some good reminders to help people chill out, and calm down during the 30 days of anxiety.

Wow, if you just took the test yesterday and you're feeling like this, imagine how bad it will be if you keep thinking about what you could have gotten wrong over the next month. You definitely need a hug.

You just worked your butt off to take that test, so be glad that it's over. Feel at least a little proud of yourself, as hard as that may be. Right now, there is nothing you can do about the score. All you can do is relax and enjoy life! Here are my tips:

1) Don't visit SDN. I find that this site often makes me doubt myself and my abilities, especially during MCAT/application season. Sure it can be helpful, but when you use it to find reasons to put yourself down, you need a break from it!

2) Forget about the MCAT. You'll get your score and if you aren't satisfied, you can take it again. However, studying for it now will really cause you to burn out before the next testing opportunity rolls around.

3) This isn't the most stressful thing that will happen to you. Imagine the USMLE? Or, maybe even something that has nothing to do with becoming a doctor goes wrong in your life? It's not healthy to mull over things like this.

4) Have a drink! It's still summer and you now actually have the freedom to enjoy yourself.

I have a feeling that none of these answers will satisfy you, though. In which case, if it really fulfills some masochistic desire of yours, go ahead and study, but at least not as much as you did pre-MCAT.
