Does anybody else want to strangle the person they talk to on the phone at OptomCAS?

They need to take tips from India and learn customer service. I love the centralized application system and acknowledge how great the idea is, but am I the only one that can't stand dealing with them personally?

I haven't spoken to a rep so I can't speak for that, but I hate the site. It's a great idea for them to receive all transcripts, letters, etc. so we don't have to do it multiple times. But it's slow as heck for me. I know that if this was paper application my stuff would have been received a long time ago. My application is 'not mailed'; i know it takes them maybe 2 weeks to mail it out. But my point is that: the post office is 5 minutes from my house and I could have just walked out there and done it myself. Awesome. Maybe it's due to high volume or w/e but if they're slow because of that then they should get more staff or something. It's frustrating to work hard on an application and then now our job is to sit and wonder if they got to my app yet. /rant

I tend to agree. I email them and it takes a few days. And it's hard for me to call them because they are only open M-F until 5pm EAST COAST TIME. I live on the west coast so it's hard to find a time to call them. Plus you think they would have a 1-800 number to make it easier for people to call them from out of state.

I'm pretty sure I read this mentioned on another thread, but the centralized website does make it nice as far as sending transcripts and LOR's, however what's the point of entering all our classes in OptomCAS if several schools in their supplemental applications ask you to enter your classes again and some schools even make you list your extracurriculars again, etc. Can't they look at the OptomCAS application to get this information instead of creating a tedious amount of work. What's the point of entering into OptomCAS then?

Sorry for the rant, but why do we have to keep entering the SAME INFO on all the supplemental applications if it's on OptomCAS! Sorry I'll stop now.

so posted a question here recently about additional questions and i called them and got an answer but just wanted to make sure it was the right answer so I emailed them and they told me the opposite.....>.>👎

Yep...sounds like them. They did the exact same thing. I'm trying to figure out an issue with my GPA and their calculated GPA. The girl on the phone gave me their FAQ answers and was extremely condescending about the whole thing. As I tried to explain to her that I had no undergrad courses and my institution has the EXACT same scale she would keep interrupting me. Finally when she got it through her head that I was saying my departmental exams weren't being counted she said they should be. When I emailed them asking them to fix it they said they don't calculate the exams in my GPA. When I called back, they said they do. When I called back again they say they don't.

Oh I have to mention that each time they gave me the same "We standardize....blah blah blah" and wouldn't listen to what I was trying to tell them until 5 minutes into the conversation. Yep...one of the joys of getting accepted will be to never deal with those idiots again.

I agree completely. I had a question about reference letters not being received after they told me they'd sent them in. The e-mail answer was straight out of the FAQs defining "new" and "received".. when I called, the girl was very condescending.. "They just have to follow a very simple procedure.." In the end, my boss just had to write a completely new letter. I'll never know what happened there.

They sound very unpleasant to deal with. Some stellar training right there.
