I applied from around August, through September, and October but havent heard from a single one of these schools regarding II decisions. CCOM told me my file is still under review.

MCAT: 30, gpa : 3.5, i mean, if im a poor applicant then shouldn't i have gotten a rejection or two already?

Schools applied to:

CCOM
Rowan
NYIT
Both Edward Via
Both PCOM
Nova
UNE
Touro-NY

maybe it is bad luck? maybe they put folks with only an MD letter to the back of the pile? (My DO is writing me a letter currently, so going to make an update soon as well).

Hmm that is strange... so you havent even gotten secondaries? Or not interviews? Your stats are very good and you applied early enough. Are you sure you are complete at all of the schools? There was no hangup correct? They have all the crap that they need to make a decision?

People have contacted the schools after months of silence only to realize that they were missing part of their application or AACOMAS put something in wrong... Its best to double check that stuff.

yeah hopefully you are fully complete everywhere. no reason why i could think they are waiting. unless you have any red flags or something?

These schools are all the secondaries I've submitted. I've gotten a complete email for most if not all these schools from as far as I can remember.

Any red flags on your app? 3.5 and 30 is pretty damn good for DO....

Uh besides no DO letter, and I didn't rack up much volunteer hours, about 80ish non-clinical hours, but otherwise I can't see why I'd get zero responses. Maybe a bad letter? Thing is, if there was something wrong I should have gotten at least one rejection maybe? I'll be sending out a DO letter in the next week or so, maybe that could help

I think this is an EC issue. DO schools aren't as stat heavy. Community service clinical and nonclinical ECs are good. You don't need research. I would send out that DO letter ASAP though

Still doesnt explain everything... even just being an "EC issue." Which honestly I dont think it is... People can argue the weight that EC's carry (especially with DO school) but the reality is that stats do about 80% of the work. If this wasnt true you would see DO schools having even lower standards than they already have, particularly the competitive ones (which are near MD range).

Honestly I am baffled.

The 80 hours was volunteering was with emergency medical rescue squad, and stuff like that. But not necessarily hospital work. Besides that some clubs, research for about 1.5 years now, waiting for journal to publish our paper. I shadowed an MD. I still have to update a couple of the schools about shadowing a DO last month and tht a letter is on the way.

Yup, I mean I have gotten a couple MD rejections (as expected). My state schools haven't rejected me yet, which makes sense too. I'm guessing an EC issue or just really bad luck haha.

You have only 80 non-clinical hours? What about clinical experience and shadowing? Any health clinic volunteering of any sort? You should be hearing something. Did you submit late?

80 hours with volunteering with an EMS squad, no direct hospital volunteering (did in high school though), shadowed an MD in the spring and a DO this past month, and I submitted from mid- Aug through October apprx.

from the looks of it... you certainly need more patient contact experience. Sign up for free health clinic or something. Bump up the shadowing maybe?

I guess I can try volunteering at a local rehab center. Tbh if I don't hear anything by end of this month, then something's just fishy haha

almost every DO school requires a DO letter, that could be it

None of the schools I applied to required a DO, a couple didn't even mention a preference over MD/DO letter and most strongly recommended. But alas my DO doctor is being a lil slow in writing the letter. I might just send an update simply telling all schools to expect a DO letter.

"Strongly recommend"... that could very well be the reason why you aren't getting any attention. Especially by this time of year where all the peeps who haven't heard from their MD schools are now going for DO... it all of a sudden "seems to be a better fit" for them. The DO letter helps differentiate those who are serious from those who are applying as a back-up.
Perfectly said... That "strongly recommended" DO letter is like the equivalent of getting research for an MD program. Its technically not required by most, but you have no major shot at it otherwise, especially if you technically did not having shadowing a DO on your app either (at the time of applying).

UNE? Pretty sure they do, that's where I'm going next year

Glad I'm not the only one.
GPA = 3.91 & MCAT = 29 and I still haven't heard from all the schools I applied to in October (LECOM-E/B, William Carey and Pikeville), not even secondaries were given...

that's even more strange IMO. especially at WCU

I like you, Denzel.

Your numbers are great, so I'm as perplexed as you. No news is good news, and a hold is better than rejection. Apps are up nationwide, so they may still be working their way down to pile to yours. Keep in mind that it's a long interview cycle, so patience is a virtue.

Hopefully you will be hearing from some schools soon. I am still waiting to hear from a large amount of schools as well.

Similar stats, also haven't heard anything. But I got a bit screwed because my DO letter writer took three months to write the letter (finally wrote it couple of days ago). So I was complete at only two schools that "strongly recommended" but didn't require the letter. Now I'm complete at four, working on a secondary for a fifth. I hope the letter will help at those two schools that "strongly recommended" it...

If I don't get any ii's in January, ugh... Don't even want to think about it.

Atleast you have your letter finally haha, DO secondary deadlines are way into mid-spring, though most people woudnt submit a secondary that late, but it just shows we still matter next year too 😀

FWIW I was silently rejected/rejected after the cycle from the schools on your list last year with a little bit lower GPA than yours but higher MCAT. Are those all the DO programs you applied too?

I didn't get calls from PCOM (both), NYCOM, and MSUCOM because I lacked volunteer hours with a 3.8/35. And that's even with my 11,000 hours of clinical work experience.

yup :/ that's all of em, atleast for secondaries submitted. I really hope this DO letter brings me back into the game

O.O .... either you were way too qualified that they did not take you seriously or something major. wow, sorry dude.

I wanted to write in my thank you note "thank you so much for such a kind letter, it will be very helpful for the next cycle. For this one I'm already #%^* screwed!"

Do the PCOMs and NYCOM factor volunteer hours heavily? They are three of the four schools I've heard nothing from.

Nova, nyit, and pcom are a bit funky this cycle (super late and acting weird). Touro CCOM you should be good, not sure why they haven't drooled over that 30 yet lol

rowan - oos must have phenomenal stats bc instate is competitive enough, and its regional.
edward via - heavily regional must show nterest in that area/their mission

Yeah I have to concur with you. I even called one of the schools about my app and they stated I don't have any recent volunteer hours or much clinical hours (like within the last 2 years, since I was doing research with my time). I only had 25 hours with a DO physician I was shadowing within the last year.

I'm right there with you. almost identical stats...complete mid august...I've got great EC's and 4 figure volunteer hours.

not a peep from CCOM, AZCOM, or NOVA.

Complete for 8 weeks at Touro NV, both PCOM's, and Campbell. Nothing there. Thank god I'm holding at least one acceptance at thsi point though..

Still waiting on PCOM and RVU. Rejected from DMU pre-interview. 29 mcat, 3.88 gpa, quite a bit of volunteering (both medical and non-medical), but no research.

no reponse from PCOM-Philly. Interviewed at UNE and LECOM-B

Of the 17-19 schools I submitted secondaries, I got 4 IIs and 2 hold/rejection. Haven't heard back from the remain. No rejection or anything.
But I don't care now because I'm set on going to a school I have been accepted to. But yea, I am technically waiting on 11+ schools, which includes all of OP's schools except UNE.

I applied in September when I received my MCAT. I made a change on my primary after being verified though. I accidentally wrote the wrong dates and amount of shadowing hours with DO, had the year wrong and missed a 0 on my shadowing hours. Hopefully that doesn't negatively affect my chances.

Why are apps up do you think?

While it is completely understandable to be swamped by the number of applicants it would be nice to simply send out a mass email after 3+ months of no contact.

I am basically in this same boat too after applying on day 1 in June. 2 of my 4 II were at "top" schools too so who knows
