I am by no means part of the brilliant percentage of some of you young people and represent a smaller portion on this forum of the kids who work incredibly hard to get scores/grades considerably lower than some of the ones posted.
However, seeing these high scores is somewhat intimidating, but it's kind of getting me jacked up. I've always been pretty good under pressure (even though pressure gets me super stressed), and now am starting to see my confidence improve on my practice tests. I am now moving from the Kaplan material to the TopScore material and am aiming for an Oct. 6th Test date.
I took the DAT last year, and I'll admit that I received a 17. I was suprised because the practice scores I got on the TopScore I had last year were anywhere from 13-15. Now I'm sure some of you are laughing out loud at these numbers, but last year I was obviously just not prepared enough. I hardly studied for organic, and basically studied for just the gchem and bio and only for 4 weeks thinking I could just take it and get it over with. Little did I know people score in the 20s like it's no big deal and make a fool out of 17s like me when my application arrives at my dental schools' doors.
Point of the matter is, after getting over the intimidation factor of most of you being nothing short of remarkable students, it's made me realize with very hard work, proper preparation, and confidence anything is possible. I'm going to begin my practice tests and hope to be scoring in the 17s and 18s on TopScore after scoring several 18s on my Kaplan exams. Just wanted to say that for you other non-posters like me who heard about this forum from genius friends or DAT instructors, there is without a doubt hope for us who don't have the 3.99999 GPAs or 23+ DATs. If there's a will, there's a way. Just show the schools that you're commited and things will pay off.
