Letter of interest/update!!🙁

I already did. Updates included 4.0 post-bacc work and independent research. I thought for sure I would get atleast one other invite.

Did they tell you roughly where you are on the waitlist? It may not be as dire as you think.

The waitlist is un-ranked. However, past years have shown considerable movement.

I am not giving up yet!

I don't think an LOI with just an update about a shadowing experience would be beneficial. Maybe you can work the experience into a letter as Myuu describes, stating your specific interest in the school (if you haven't already writen such a letter already). I've also heard monthly letters once you get on the waitlist are 👍, but trying not to say everything in one letter, so as not to repeat yourself, seems hard 🙂 good luck good luck good luck!!

The pending decisions will probably both be waitlists... I don't exactly match up stats wise with those schools. The waitlists I'm on currently however are all state schools, so I'm pretty confident I'll get off of one of those with a well timed LOI/stroke of luck.

edit: that is one hell of an MCAT score, but I'd expect it from a HM math major

As a side note, in a separate thread, people are claiming that March 15th is the date when some schools could see where you have been accepted (not sure if only schools that have accepted you see these or all schools to which you are applying). However, I just got two last minute interview invites, in two days, from CMS (Rosalind Franklin) (in April) and NYMC (in May!). It sorta feels as though that March 15th date might just be "early march" in which case they took pity on my no-acceptance-yet status 🙂 there is hope yet!

When I interviewed with him, he struck me as the kind of guy who, even if he liked you as an applicant, wouldn't really show it... Did you get waitlisted the first time around? Was UH the only school you applied to the first time?
MCW has a reputation for placing students in really good residencies! But hopefully I won't have to apply again

He didn't even pretend to like me but this was many years ago, maybe things are changed now. First time around, I was a dummy and applied a only like 8 schools all of them brand name plus UH. Second time around, I applied to 20 and didn't even bother with the IVY's and UC's. When I had my second interview with Izutsu he did the whole sat me down, looked me in the eye and "any questions?" bit again and I was able to fire off a few but got tired of it quick. Especially the second time around. Probably would've acted differently if I didn't already have an acceptance at MCW. I got a straight out rejection for the second time from JABSOM. Just so you know, my numbers were less than yours but mine were still better than a lot of my friends who got in that year as well. Lots of them with <30 MCAT got in off the waitlist. I got the impression that they really dig folks who went elsewhere for undergrad (I went to UH). That year when I applied, out of about 60, I think, 10 went to imi, 10 to out of state, less than 10 to UH grads, and the rest, folks like you.
I'm a fourth year now and our match stats this year is going to be crazy. I only know of a few going into medicine, all interviewed at top programs. The rest were mostly ROAD, ER, surgery specialties, etc. I don't know everyone in my class (200) but they're mostly all studs.
