anyone else suffer from senioritis?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have it too except I've been watching tons of anime with interspersed naps throughout the day.

I'm on my ortho sub-I, and I'm going into ortho, so if I do have time for a nap, it's because it's my day off.

Next month though, I'm on Pain Management -- all clinic, no weekends.

I'm really not looking forward to my medicine sub-I in February.

even worse for me...I'm coming off a chill research year. I finished my sub-Is and step 2s before I left. I am screwed for internship.

yup...I'm getting somewhat lazy. I've got to find a way to keep the intensity up so that I can learn a lot.

Enjoy it while ya can guys. Internship is absolutely soul-crushing! it should be listed in the next edition of Pocket medicine as one of the most common causes of IBS!

I hear you on this one! I'm on an away surgery rotation at one of the programs I applied to for General Surgery. Next month I start a block of ER - shift work never looked so glorious!

I think I'm becoming lazier by the minute. I already have my only interview done, passed all my board exams. I have plenty of things I should be working on as I type this, but I'm severely lacking motivation 😱. Just wait until next spring. We'll be totally worthless.

I am definately feeling it. Took two months off, one to take Step 2, the other to get married and go on my honeymoon. I then did a somewhat easy urogyn roation and then Hurricane Ike hit and messed up all my plans. Now I am still away from home, working hard on L&D. I love OBGYN, this is what i am going into, but was trying to avoid the hard stuff during my 4th year. Saving that till intern year.

We can all hang in there. Less than a year till we are MD's

damn. everyone is getting married.

I think I am getting senioritis in my third year. I'm too tired to study when I get home.

I know its getting bad when I have to use the calculator on my cell phone to figure how many weeks left before I'm done.🙂

4 more weeks for me, and the end couldnt come soon enough! i cannot wait to burn this ******ed looking short coat 😀

No, that's just normal.

4th year you just don't need to study when you get home.

Good to know. I'm a little less exhausted right now, but then again I did take a 3 hour nap yesterday.

The senioritis has also set in just because I am in my 4th year post bac (did a 1 year masters). I keep telling myself 1 1/2 more years...

I showed up for tumor board this morning at 8 am, and they asked me what I was doing there? It didn't take too much convincing to come to the library for "review". 4th year is so much different than last year when we were read the riot act if we were late for conferences.

I'm entering the "worthless" zone. Played guitar hero for like 3 hours today, napped, and now I'm going to go to the bar. Why are we in school again?

4th year is so much better than 3rd year! so much awsum.

Staff and faculty members, in general, treat 4th yrs nicer. I'm trying to get used to my attendings calling me Dr. ___. It's scary. Makes me wonder if it is their gentle way of telling me to read on my own so I don't kill patients later on.

I passed over the getting used to people calling me Dr. phase over 1 year ago. In Mexico 4th year med school is real work, 6th semester on the other hand (cept for 1 horrible subject with a real jerk of a teacher) was such a breeze.

I still did the toughest 4th year subjects in 7th semester and ended up with all of the easy subjects in 8th. I barely study these days, it's so fun to be lazy!!! 😀

Better enjoy my final exams next week as a med student while I can, everything will be different as an intern. 😳

Final exams as a 4th year med student?!? 😱 That sucks.

Wait.. American med students don't do final exams in their 4th year??? :eyebrow:

Not generally, but we do take Step 2 CK and CS in there. I only have 1 rotation with an exam this year (P/F). In another I will have a big research presentation at the end.

At my sister's school, she'll have to retake the Medicine Shelf as an M4 -- sucks to be her -- because they take it M3 and M4 year.

😱 Why the torture?!? You would think if you ace'd it once, then taking it again is a waste of time.

Senioritis hits hardest towards the end of interview season and close to/after the Match. Trust me.

My last day is February 26th! We get two vacation months and I have saved them for the end. This month and February I have to do a required community hospital rotation, which is quite boring but I can deal with it. Doing a ton of dictations, which is good as didn't really do any previously.

You get recurrent infections? 😱 ... I would've thought that you would build some immunity after high school and undergrad. Guess not.
