Oh! I didn't know that IMU was starting Dent this sem. Are you in the twinning programme or the local IMU one? Checked out the website,the school fees are pretty expensive eh? Guess it'll be used to pay for the new dental chairs that they're getting.See you then.

hi, i'm victor. my friend has recommended me to this forum as there are quite a number of you guys who are coming into IMU for the M108 intake. and she having tonnes of question regarding IMU, has suggested to share those details and my experiences here.
for a brief introduction, i am currently a second year medical student, studying in IMU (i.e. i am in semester 3 and from M107 batch). i hope i would not be too late to offer my help and advices around here, if you guys do need any. 🙂

erm, i'm a scholar so the school fees are paid directly by my sponsor. but for private students, you can pay by cash or cheques. i'm not very sure with credit cards. but i would suggest that you visit imu's website:
imu.edu.my
for more info about the payment or you can call them up and ask.

Hi all, I'm a M2/06 graduate now practising in Toowoomba (just outside Brisbane); you'll be surprised how how many Malaysians and even clinical professors you'll meet along the way over here.
The neurologist over here used to teach over at Seremban, he still has a photo of the first IMU graduate batch sitting on his desk 🙂
We also have a IMU-NZ grad that matched into anaesthetics and is now completing her residency.
I graduated from UQ last year and am now completing my internship -- let me know if you have any questions about IMU, Australia, or the matching process and I'll try my best to answer them.

as a fresh graduate = generally no. Used to be that twining with recongised school such as UQ let u work in singapore upon graduation. Now rules are changed such that all duration of the schooling must be done in the country awarding the degree.

hey omni! respect! I was just at brissie visiting my friends not long ago. i was aiming at working thr too, assuming i pass my interview with IMU this Oct via online (while wrapping up my contract in perth atm) and also assuming i can land an internship in queensland too.too many assumptions but i'll try my best...i have too many questions to ask but i guess you could probably advise me abit on the interview Qs?
i applied for the graduate-entry imu-pms btw.how many graduate-entry students were thr in ur batch?
There were two of us which were graduates (already holding an undergraduate degree) -- one from Singapore (and has returned to Singapore to start her PGY1 training there) and me 🙂
You'll be at an advantage if you already have a degree as you'll only be in IMU for 2.5 years and don't have to stick it out for another year like the other students do to get a BMed Sci at IMU -- U Queensland as you know only accepts graduate students into their MBBS program via IMU.

i suppose there's a ~6-mth gap after 2.5yrs in IMU prior to starting in UQ, cos UQ's MBBS sem starts ard jan/feb each yr right?
No, there won't be a gap if you're in the Sept intake. We started then and transferred onto UQ immediately after finishing phase I.
Has anyone done online interview with IMU before? i'm scheduled for one this wednesday.

Does anyone know if there's any difference in teaching/learning patterns between an undergraduate and graduate entry medicine in IMU?
how can a graduate student possibly catch up with his peers should he be matched UQ that only gives 2 years of clinical training prior to graduation?

Medical schools in the United States also only have two years of clinical training prior to graduation and their graduates turn out fine. You shouldn't be at a disadvantage post-graduate year.
As for undergraduate vs graduate entry at IMU, the tutorials are all the same; you're on the same level playing field so to speak.
