Anyone ever have a "gimmie" science class

I know I have- Physics II was the easiest for me in terms of (anticipated difficulty/actual difficulty). I mean- we had a brand new professor who just slaughtered us on the first test b/c he had no idea of the ability of us lowly undergrads. Thermodynamics- work done in isothermal compressions/expansions, isobaric work calculations- pretty much every thermodynamic calculation humanly possible on one test. Most everybody failed to finish- he ended up curving the thing like you wouldn't believe. Then the next three test were dumbed down so much it was possible to get 110% or more on his tests, and plenty of people did just that. I feel like this was a case of a gimmie if you know what I mean 👍

Until you go to pull some of that information on the MCAT... I'm not a fan of professors who intentionally try to crush their class to stroke their masochistic ego, but, at the same time, I really don't care for the professors who don't teach anything... regardless of the grade I can get.

Organic 1 has been that way for me thus far. It's not that the teacher is being purposefully easy going as not everyone is doing very well, but probably more that I'd heard so many horror stories that I either 1. over anticipated the difficulty or 2. don't slack like I may have in other courses.

The exams for anal chem wasn't so bad, but the lab... accuracy and precision markdowns were brutal.

Second semester bio was a definite gimmie. We basically just hung out in the woods the entire time.

I did research for credit and because the course number was prefixed with "Bio" it counted towards my science GPA. I got 2 credits of A's for 3 semesters in a row. It was definitely a nice little boost.

Astronomy. I took it the last semester I was in college because I had to fill out my schedule. My undergrad required an 'environmental perspectives' themed class for everyone, and the people that were too scared to fulfill it with gen chem 1 took astronomy. I showed up to lecture once or twice a month and studied slides for a couple hours the day before each test and walked out with an A.

Also, analytical chem lab sucked for me too. I think we got marked down for error after 0.2%. Over the course of a 20mL titration, it turned out to be the difference of about a single drop coming out of the buret.

Physics II is by far the second hardest class I took, next to Ochem II.

So far, multivariable calculus was the easiest 'science' class I have taken, next to physics I. Hardest -- physics II (which I'm taking right now), general chemistry I, and biology I (too much info crammed into one quarter).

I took analytical chemistry in the summer after dropping a tougher prof's version during the school year. Glad I did.

Microbiology for nursing and environmental health majors.

I remember one girl carrying on an extended conversation while waving around her petri dish in the air uncovered and then was shocked to find out that it was contaminated the next lab session.

There were multiple study sessions to ask the professor questions and a workbook with all the possible exam questions in it. The only people who failed (including my cousin) were the ones that never showed up to class and never cracked open the workbook.

Definitely microbiology. The prof held a review session the day before the final exam and this is exactly what he said: "chances are, if 'all of the above' is a choice, it's the answer." Easiest test of my life. It was an easy class in general, but still.

From the syllabus:

The chapter quizzes are all ten questions long. They will be a
combination of Multiple Choice and True-False questions. In order to
pass the quiz you must answer at least 7 questions correctly. If you donot get at least 7 questions correct, you should take some time to study more and then re-take the quiz (each time you re-take the quiz it will have different questions!). You will be able to re-take the quiz as​

many times as necessary in order to pass it.

Grades in this course are based on how many chapter quizzes you
successfully pass.

If any of you're pre-med classes were/are gimmie classes then your profs need to work you harder. You shouldn't breeze through Intro Bio or Orgo unless you have a 160+ IQ. Maybe I'm just bitter...

I can understand how it would be true at large schools that curve grades, you end up with huge chunks of classes that aren't really serious and so you're B or C ends up an A because everyone else got a 12.

My zoology class was gimme. The professor posted study guides for exams and vocabulary quizzes. The final exam and final lab practical were optional if you had an A in the class.

Ours started at 1-6 parts per thousand. Failing was >40 parts per thousand error I believe.

Psych Stats was a math class and was hard only in the sense that it took a lot of motivation to get up and go to the class.

It has no math prerequisites and the first exam covered calculation of arithmatic mean, median, mode, and standard deviation. The entire test was calculating that when given a list of numbers--idk how people scored below a 80 on that exam!

The rest of the class was pretty easy too since it was just formulas but she let us use our TI-89s and a crib sheet so in comparison to my engineering classes, it was a cakewalk! Easiest A+ ever--thank you humanities majors who have not taken math in year!
