I'm a little tempted at staying at home and just watching all of Khan Academy videos , instead of going to my math class. The class is 2 hours long and the material can be covered in 45minutes honestly. I have a 3 1/2 hour class RIGHT before that one, so i'm like exhausted and hungry as hell.

EDIT: I tried to self teach myself for my first bio exam, it didn't work out that well. I thought i would make an A, but i most likely made a B. I hate exams that has less then 30 questions -.-

I did this for Ochem2. Didn't go to a single class other than the test days. As long as they don't have in-class quizzes or attendance in any form it's really not too bad. (But maybe I just had an easy teacher).

Ya maybe you had an easy teacher, but then again most of the teachers don't make their own exams. But ochem? That's hardcore stuff to self teach lol. You read book+powerpoints? Any online videos or previous exams?

I assume you got an A in the class

I didn't go to chem, physics, ochem, or my math (calc/precalc/trg/algebra) courses- I'm in ochem 2 and didnt even go to lecture 1 LOL

I'm more of a textbook/online learner- lecture doesn't have enough detail for me so I never feel like I am learning anything- I need facts Lol

Self-learning physics was the toughest

I skipped basically all of my classes except a few upper level classes and courses where attendance was required. It can work, but it's a dangerous game.

I go to all my classes because I'm afraid the lecturer might reveal a piece of information not covered by the textbook, or if it takes attendance. But if they don't take attendance, and basically read off of a powerpoint (that's available online), there's really no need to go.

I go to all my classes because I like to engage in conversations with my professors about class, their research, their intimate experience in the field, etc. I have had bad professors, but I still go because I know they know a lot, and I want to learn, so I usually ask things that go beyond the class... Jus because I'm curious.

Go for it. But I wouldn't recommend it for higher level classes, usually in your major.

Depends on how comfortable you are in the class. I wouldn't take Ochem online, but I would have love to have taken Psych online for example. Also, I wouldn't complain to much about a schedule YOU made.

I did this for Calculus I (class was at 8am). However, I used Patrick JMT. Found that he was better (for math) than Khan Academy. I ended up with an A in the course. The time you save, can be used for extra practice which is where you really learn the Math.

I'd think the exact opposite is true.

In calc, you know exactly what they are going to ask you. If you skip psych class, God only knows what's going to be on the test.

👍 Exactly.

Humanities are really iffy, and almost always depend upon the professor. Calc, Bio, Chem, Physics, etc. are a little more "standardized," and generally the same concepts pop up on every exam. **I've never done a class 100% online before, however**

Ive never done this, but sounds sort of like a good idea if I want to get ahead of the lecture later.

Have you had a Psych class recently? I just finished Health Psych, Abnormal Psych, and Lifespan Psych all within the past 2 semesters and they could have been easily been taken online. Ochem, Calc, Physics, etc would be classes certain people would want to go to class for and get taught because they are more difficult subjects. Wouldn't you agree?

Well problem is that organic+math classes can be self taught because they're the "almost same" for all exams. If you know how to do every problem in the chapter, you should be golden. Now that's assuming you CAN self-teach yourself.

As for psych or Biology, you're better off going to class. Cause that type of subject is mostly memory, so the professor might ask you something VERY specific. And there's some type of information in each paragraph.
