Hi I am a fresh/more and I am wanting to go to U of H, I am shooting for 2013.

I am a single mom of two, and I live in an income-based apartment, section 8, Public Housing whatever you want to call it.

I was wondering if anyone else is living in a section 8 apartment in Houston? I know everyone says that they have crime and all that in these apartments, but they say that about all of them.

I found this on the net, but I dont know if it is really income-based because you cant trust everything on the net. If you do know that they are, which ones would you suggest? here is the list..

By the way I have to have a 3 bedroom bc I have a girl and a boy...

31 one veiws and no one know anything about it ? 🙁

It's a pretty specific question, so it might take a little bit for someone with that specific knowledge to happen upon this thread.

What I can say is this: looking up Houston Housing Authority brings up the website you've referenced above, and it looks legitimate to me. Unfortunately, I don't know much else.

Ya I did that, but they dont always update the sites, and then they have scam site that ask for money. I guess I will just have to call and talk to someone during the week

just wanted to say .. congrats on getting into pharm school and it is very admirable doing something like that when you have kids, to provide them a better future.

awesome!!!!

im sure you'll find housing ..i personally always live in public housing cause they have good deals and usually are filled with unpretentious people. unfortunately you wont find many pharmacy students who do that .. ex: a good percentage of my class is living in luxury apartments (ie $1000/mo for a 1 bedroom) because they come from rich backgrounds.

personally, i'd recommend looking on craigslist or rental ads, for apartments that are the cheapest. usually cheap apartment will take section 8. rather. apartment complexes that take public housing will usually have low rents. i found mine by driving around touring the area and walking up to meet landlords/managers. driving around can get you like 10 contacts in an afternoon. much better than aimless internet searching. of course, be prepared for ugly looks from your classmates. i dont tell people where i live anymore because of the comments and looks i get from people in my class LOL

Thanks, but Im not there yet! I am just trying to plan it out.. I finally got a hold of a few people and I am going to apply (for housing) about 15-18 months before I plan on moving to Houston, so I will be applying for it before I get accepted, so WHEN I do I wont be stressed about it. I have been a little stressed about it but I have figured out a plan, and if it doesnt go just right I have a few other plans I can try. I know that it will work out if I just plan right and do my best..
