Anyone feels sick in the Cadaver lab?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yea it takes like a week or two to adjust but then you just get lightheaded from the formaldehyde and being elbow-deep in a body

It's not the best experience, but it can be a lot better when cadavers are preserved well

Hells yea felt sick all the time after lab the first few weeks. Especially the first time I walked in and there was just this random pile of legs on a table. It was bit shocking, seeing 'death' like that.

It was more motivation to study prior to going, so I could spend the least amount possible at lab. After a while, particularly with exams looming, it was more like being on a 'mission'. You forget that you're surrounded by death and it's smells (or preservative smells) and get lost trying to 'find' things. I used to worry that I'd get the same feeling during surgical rotation, looking back not sure why I ever did (a living person's anatomy is so different, for one, not everything is a shade of puke grey/brown).

Just fel i was going to vomit after seeing a badly preserved body. its just disgusting to see how you end up after death
One day in cadaver lab, a head from one of the nearby tables fell to the floor and rolled around. Everyone froze, stared in disbelief and then someone from that table picked it up nonchalantly and returned it to their table. It was chilling....for 2-3 minutes.

Then a group of us went out for lunch off campus in our scrubs and no one batted an eye.

You get over it

you went to lunch off campus in scrubs you wore in anatomy lab just previously? That is disgusting.

No.
But some of my friends were.
:C
(Something in the formaldehyde?)
Finding it ironic that we're now talking about being hungry after lab, in a thread that started off as a discussion about feeling sick during the lab. Lol

Don't worry you'll soon have lunches at the morgue in no time. Babies might be a bit of a downer though.
