anyone? or anyone you know?

I'm out of college already. But I still have a D from that undergrad genetics class I took. I didn't retake it while I was an undergrad cuz that class was a bitch, and I hated the fact that they had 3 profs teaching that same class.

I took the class again postbacc at a local university and aced it. But med schools don't have a copy of my new grade yet. And I doubt they will care even if I fax them a copy of my report card?

what do yall think?

I think it'll be ok....I can't speak from experience, but my first quarter of college I got a D in calculus II and i never retook...and no one really advised me to, just to move on and do well. My science GPA certainly took the hit, but I have no intention to retake and hopefully will apply with a 3.5-3.6ish BCPM and a little higher cumulative...hoping it'll get overlooked and at very least i can write it off with that 'transition to college' talk. 🙂

I got a D in ochem I the first time I took it. I took the class again, though, and got an A. This D, however, has been haunting my gpa ever since. No matter how well I do, my sci GPA still sucks the big one. But, I have two acceptances so far and have been on 8 interviews... so there is hope!! good luck

I probably have one of the worst transcripts of someone that got in an all school. But one example: I got a D+ in an english course my freshman year. I retook it and got a C+!!, then I retook it again and got a B+. Odd b/c english is actually a better subject of mine. I got 11 interviews, went to 7, got in 4 so far. So believe me, you can get past one D. And there are other very ugly scars on my transcript.

exmike, I PMed you. By the way, congrats on your acceptances.

i got a C- and a D+ in my two gen chem classes as a frosh. i took them over that summer and did much better. rest of college was better, as with grad school. i've been lucky enough to get interviews at a bunch of "name brand" places (except for my alma mater..maybe it realizes something the other schools don't! 🙂) and no places have brought up my C- and D+. hope this info helps!

ps one thing though..i took these courses over 10 years ago so the combo of these grades being early on in my college career + the things I've done since graduating from college may have offset the lousy frosh performance.

the D I got adds to the downward trend in my gpa.
I guess it won't look so good.
But at this point..... I really don't give a fock. There's not much I can do between now and the end of interview season.

I have one more application to finish...... and it's about writing a 200 word autobio. After that, I'm in the waiting game.
